Hi there,
Im experimenting with making samples/kits for LSDJ. I have completed one which is of vocals and it has turned out reasonably well. Im using Soundforge. I was wondering if putting the samples through a compressor would improve further?

Does anyone have experience putting the samples through a compressor?

Another question about the keyboard. I have searched this but cant seem to get the answer im looking for.

Im wondering why there is note overlap between the upper and lower layers of the keyboard. I think I read somewhere about being able to play 2 instruments and once. This would then make sense. If so, how do you do this?

Any help would be great.

Hi everyone.
I am thinking about doing the front light mod using SP front light. I have heard that there are vertical lines on the screen after installation. What are they like? Are they bad enough to stop anyone from recommending the mod?

LSDJ isnt ideal on GBA because of the positions of the start and select buttons. It will make moving between pages very awkward.

I think I may have worked it out. After playing around with it again tonight I have found that if you load the track, switch off/on gameboy, start track then scroll through sync select to keyboard whilst playing the keyboard will work perfectly. This needs to be done each time you change track or the keyboard cable comes out. Id imagine there will eventually be a fix for this.

Can anyone else comment if this method works for them?

Does anyone know if this works with LSDJ or plans to work in the future? Im looking for a way to clock sync to FL studio.

I was meaning doing a live set on only a gameboy or two. No turntables.

Chip tune music doesnt mix well with other music. The kickdrum is so flat and melodies so bright. It just clashes.

Has anyone played LSDJ in clubs? I have been a techno DJ for over 10 years but only recently got into making music on LSDJ. I heard someone playing on a gameboy in a club in Holland and it blew my mind! After that I was hooked. Id like to consider playing in a club sometime but a little scared of the crowd response as its definitely out of the norm and there is no 'get out of jail free card', you have to commit!.

So for those who have played in a club with LSDJ:

-What was the crowds response?
-What style of chipmusic sounds best in a club? (DnB, Techno, House, dubstep...)
-How long did you play?
-What problems did you have?
-Does it sound good on all setups?
-What were you EQ settings? (im guessing around +12db Low, +10db Hi)
-Anything else out of the normal?

Ive heard that the Gameboy color is meant to be better for LSDJ as it is less prone to slowdown and glitches when compared to the DMG. Is this true? Also I heard somewhere that the gameboy color has other sound features but I guess this wouldnt be included in LSDJ as it is DMG and Color compatible. I have been using a Gameboy Color for about a month with LSDJ and havent found any issues. Been 99.9% stable

What are other peoples thoughts on using the Gameboy color compared to the DMG other than sound quality?

Hi there, I pro sound modded my gameboy color and the sound in much better but it is quieter. Is this normal?

I did an internal mod that is post volume potentiometer. It uses the standard headphone socket by removing 2 resistors to disconnect normal sound.

Can anyone comment if there gameboy color pro mod is quieter?

If I connected the audio lines before the volume potentiometer would this increase volume?

Thank you for your replies. I thought it must have been something I did wrong. I have wasted quite a bit of time and money on this.try to get it right. 2 keyboards, 2 cables and trying it on friends gameboys who had them stored away somewhere. I have tried version 4.6.9 but it is the same.

Is the keyboard commonly known to not work stably? I cant find any information on the net detailing this.

Hi there,
I am having difficulties with using a keyboard in LSDJ. It is very temperamental. I am using the latest version of LSDJ 4.7.3 but have tried other versions with the same results. It is a gameboy color and PS/2 keyboard.

Problem:
- The keyboard wont work unless I start the music, then change sync to keyboard even if it is already set to keyboard. I need to do this a few times before it actuall works.
- Once working it will eventually stop working then I have to go back to the sync options and change it from 'keyboard' to something else then back to 'keyboard'. This is very annoying as I have to do this ever 2 minutes or so.
- Sometimes the keyboard doesnt work correctly. Up is down, down is up, enter is up....

I have two keyboard, both with the same problems. Could it be due to the length of the cable? It is just over one meter long. I am using 5v from the GBC

When it does actually work it works great.

Any help would be great.
