Just an idea, but I have noticed a few very location centric threads pop up over the last couple of months which are not really wider community topics, nor are they gig announcements. From the last 2 or 3 months without looking very hard :

http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/7332/ … anization/
http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/7426/ … -kentucky/
http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/7342/ … n-seattle/
http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/5227/ … -together/
http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/5589/ … -and-more/
http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/6872/ … musicians/
http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/6792/ … hip-scene/

I am sure there are more if I dig around a bit, any thoughts on collating them all to a single "regional scenes" subforum? It might help local scenes develop while keeping the rest of the forums of interest to the general readership.

Just an idea.

I fully support this. Philly Chip needs its own sub-forum.

These threads would still show up on the front page, which is where I check for new threads 9/10 times. But if it makes it easier for people to search for these threads then it makes sense to give them there own section.

Caveat: it will expose scenes that become quiet. I won't name cities so the folks in Jacksonville and Miami needn't worry.

Well there hasn't been anything in SF in a while. You're right about things being close. But I was talking about in Sacramento specifically. I should've mentioned that wink

do you mean "regional scenes sub forum" or "regional scene sub forums"? like, one sub forum for everyone? or one for each scene?

I think what isn't wanted are brand new websites for each region.

The former. Just a place for current and new threads pertaining to regional scenes like the above. I guess if the op wants to make a nice first post with links to local venues, artists pages etc they totally could. Per scene forums seems like overkill
