@MegaMantra - thanks; "tour de force" is probably the nicest thing anyone's ever said about a thing I've done... and it's cool that I have a sound.

@Idio - glad you think so. I worked hard on them but in many ways the odds were against me - I can't draw, they're floppy disks, etc - so it's good to hear they're cool. I sent out the first round of them today, so I hope yours gets to you okay.

Incidentally I've unfortunately had to raise the shipping costs... nothing preposterous, but it turns out the USPS will not in fact ship a padded mailer as a large envelope, which makes a big difference when sending overseas. Sorry everyone.

Just a few pixel-art renditions of some of the covers I drew, nothing too fancy... I can e-mail them (along with the module for the song) to anyone who doesn't have a floppy drive but wants a disk as an art object/square mini-frisbee/whatever.

3.5" floppy disks are now available! Each one has a unique hand-drawn label and contains the original .xm file for the song.

aren't they pretty?

This is like a scarier, higher-fidelity Super Metroid soundtrack. Which is to say, pretty awesome.

Thanks. Yeah, I can see it. Hadn't listened to it in a long time, but Green Beret is a great track.

thanks guys.

@SketchMan3 - I think it might be IDM, I'm not really sure. I've never been quite clear on what lands something in that genre but what inspired me to make electronic music in the first place was all either video game music/tracker music or somehow under the IDM umbrella (Aphex Twin, Autechre, Boards of Canada, Squarepusher. I don't really think my music has much of an IDM feeling but I'm sure there's plenty of influence present that I'm not conscious of.

This is my new EP (or 11-minute song, if you prefer). The description says:

The Black Gate is where contradictions - high fidelity and low fidelity, dark and light, minimalism, maximalism, repetition, variation, simplicity, complexity, fear, love - converge and resolve themselves.

How silly!

I realized I never actually introduced myself here; I've been a member for a while but mostly lurk. I'm Brother Android and I make tracker music (I use and have always used Skale Tracker and still don't know if I should apologize for that) that sometimes tries to sound like some kind of chip music, but less so these days. I make game soundtracks sometimes (e.g. Hero Core) and I also play sad folk songs under my human name. I live in Texas but am from Idaho of all the crazy places.

electronic music:

soundcloud.com/brother-android

real live music:
harrisonlemke.bandcamp.com
soundcloud.com/hlemke

This is just ridiculous. In a good way, of course.

I got my gray one in very good condition at a local shop for like $10, which apparently is pretty good. Waco, TX has very few things, but it does have a good cheap used game store.

I'm glad that Dances is so well regarded and well known... I'm not really that up on what other people in the scene like to listen to but that album kills me every time. My other favorite is Vegavox 2 by Alex Mauer. I also am pretty big into Left and even bigger into Saudade for Beginners by minusbaby. Pamplemousse is also very good as many people have mentioned.

Incidentally, why is it that so many chip musicians seem to have an aversion to the traditional full-length album? Most of the chip "albums" in my collection are 4-7 tracks long.

Also, has Peer done anything else and if not what is the deal?

The cover art raised more than one red flag for me, but the music is actually pretty great.

Well, perhaps in some distant shining future... glad you like the record, in the meantime.

Hm. I guess i will have to either come up with some awesome effects or instrumental parts, or learn to dance.

Thanks guys. Honestly, though, i've always kind of been lost as to how one is supposed to play a live show as a tracker musician, especially one who doesn't play any instruments except for the guitar.
