sounds like the answer is probably no but i thought i'd ask anyway just in case, is there a chance of any of these showing up at blip NY somehow?

lately i've been super-digging toriena's stuff.  hard-hitting glitchy beats and spastic pentatonic scales galore smile

apparently she just released an EP recently too, http://vol4records.com/main/064.html

cool, cool - thanks for the advice everyone, the tips affirm my initial instincts for the most part.

i think i'll most likely go with the Magic Eraser method and remove the text.  i don't really have any problem with slapping down decals after the fact, btw, so i'll consider that if i change my mind.

i'll post pics of my work when i'm done so that i can subject myself to everyone's scrutiny!

so, i've gotten a clear DMG case but i'd like to do something about the graphics on the front (game boy logo below the screen, start/select/B/A/etc.).

basically, i'm not a fan of the burgundy colour (at least for the colour scheme i'm going for), and from what i've read, i have two options:

1) find some way to isolate/stencil the logo from the rest of the case and paint it a different colour.  i'm not sure if there's any good way to do this, short of meticulously stenciling out the graphics and spraypainting through the stencil (which i'm almost guaranteed to botch if i try it myself).  I read about using Krylon X-Metals sprays, but from what i understand, that's only useful if you intend to spray the whole DMG case using the same colour, right?

2) i read somewhere that you can remove the graphics by rubbing sugar on them -- apparently the sugar crystals are abrasive enough to remove the logo but soft enough not to scratch up the underlying case plastic.  i'm hesistant to try this though, since the method sounds a little bit like a troll made it up.

can any of you experience comment on the above methods and/or suggest better ways to accomplish what i'm trying to do?

I just throw enough effect commands/tables on it so so it makes me look like i actually know what i'm doing

On an aside, though: It's important to remember song writing. If someone writes a beautiful melody and chord structure with just a stagnant 50% pulse width I totally won't hold it against him (or her!). But at least throw some Vxx/4xx on that shit AMIRITE

Yeah there's nothing wrong with using samples in LSDJ, unless they're the only drums you're using.

yeah, i made that mistake when i first got my hands on LSDJ many moons ago... this happened.

seriously though, i say screw what everyone says about "proper" WAV channel usage, even in the area of percussion.  it is important to know why certain sounds do sound better from a psychoacoustic standpoint, but once someone has that knowledge, deciding to use WAV drums (like any other musical element) becomes a matter of choice, taste and musical expression.

a half-minute WAV drum solo could be seen as an amazing technical feat, given the right context.

the blue/green color combination works really well! i like that the speaker grille's green matches the power LED.

hey, is there any guide you're referring to for the internal lighting?  i'm trying to figure out how to do it myself, but google is turning out to be surprisingly unhelpful.

i forgot to add, DSlite-era R4 cards probably won't work on 3ds units for obvious reasons but there should be newer lines of R4's specifically made to work with the 3DS.  last i checked these new R4's will only play DS games though. anyway it's just a matter of getting a hold of them, but i don't know much about that.

sure does.  my 3ds runs DS-10+ no problem.

r4 cards are super cheap, i just got one bundled with a 2gb micro SD card for like 12 bucks from realhotstuff.com

also i dont think DS-10+ will be any different from DS-10 unless you have a DSi, which would need a different flash cart

for the record, if you use a DS-10+ on a regular DS lite, you won't have access to the Dual Mode which is the main feature, but you'll still be able to use some of the other new features like per-pattern channel mute.

fair enough. the ping could get annoying haha

but the ping is what people crave for at live shows!  SGB CPUs ARE KILLING THE SCENE MAN

although, you could just recreate the ping in your program and play it once your SGB'd gameboy finishes loading..
