Point taken on the trouble, but it's not going to cost me anything extra really.
If the Arduinoboy won't fit then will have to do it externally, just feels neat to build it into the Sfc shell if I can. My current Arduinoboy sounds a little bit noisy with mgb/pushpin, like power is pulsing when I am sending Midi so was thinking about taking power from the SFC to see if it avoids this. Maybe it is more trouble than it's worth -  I'll see how noisy it is through a link cable first.

You're right it's all technically a bit unnecessary, but I thought it might be fun...

if I am just being mad, please do let me know, but this seems like a worthwhile thing to do

maybe this should be on the "Handhelds" forum... but has anyone seen someone try this?

I am wondering if there's somewhere obvious and safe to get +5v from in the Super Famicom to power the Arduinoboy as I have a hunch that powering it through the link cable might be a source of noise...

Any experienced modders got an idea on this?

thanks!

I mean, point taken, but a DMG does more than it ever said on the box. The Digitakt doesn't do some of the things it says on the box yet.
I am somehow managing to make music without it obviously.

Hey go update your digitakt to OS 1.06 before you blast it so much mate! tongue

1.06 doesn't address any of my issues smile Still no multi-track recording, ability to backup files/projects, no copy and paste of MIDI CC config, etc.

i'm in exactly the same boat as this really, except bought my Digitakt more recently after they promised Overbridge for Feb 2018.....
Also going to hang onto it for now as it makes getting a basic idea together super, super fast and it's really good fun using to control MGB.... BUT... it doesn't do what I bought it to do yet.

perfect, thanks (I knew someone on here would know smile

I don't suppose anyone knows why this Super Famicom cart appears to have a slot for Gameboy game in the top of it?
I was getting a J-NTSC Super Famicom to use with a Super Gameboy 2... did a bit of digging and found reference to this music making cart... I just ordered one off ebay as it was so cheap, but the gameboy cart slot (is that what it is?) is a bit mysterious....

Update: the decoupling capacitor makes it near silent with lsdj, but not if the link cable is plugged to a MIDI source from mgb or pushpin . This happens with at least two of my DMGs so think this might be a feature not a bug. Will probably be building another Arduinoboy and link cable soon anyway so will see if either helps...

EDIT - oh, just realised that wasn't at me. oops.

mine's an old XIWI one.

thanks....

I've got capacitors in the post, so will let you know if that improves it.... although if you're powering the Arduinoboy from USB maybe it won't.

hmmm.

Just on the off chance anyone has experience of this...

My newly prosounded gameboy is pretty quiet... but when it's got the link cable from my arduinoboy plugged in it suddenly picks up what sounds like slowly pulsing electromagnetic interference.

I should probably check if linking it to another DMG causes the same issue and eliminate "something I did to the link port" from the equation... But my current theory is that between the backlight and the (link cable powered) arduinoboy it's drawing too much power.

So... if that's the case is it likely adding a decoupling capacitor to the prosound will fix it?
Or would I be better off thinking about building an arduinoboy with it's own power?

niiiiiice!

I bought an EMS cart and it took so long to arrive I ended up buying another one and then just as I was going to cancel the order the one from him turned up (to be honest I needed two in the end... ha)
I think he's busy rather than crooked, but appreciate that's no help when you want your stuff.
IIRC his personal social media accounts are somewhere on the shop? or they were anyway!

We asked Johan on the fb lsdj group and he confirmed that he's talking with them but said he's not really interested in licensing lsdj to them for inclusion.
