More information will come about this however we wanted to give you guys the first opportunity to sign up for the open mic for SoundBytes loves Square Sounds (It's on Valentine's day, so we went cheesy with the name) we announce it publicly or put it on the website.

Full line up of artists will be announced (there will be 4 live sets from some names you might just know already) as well as a bunch of open micers.

Open mic slots are currently limited to 12, but we may open this up a little further if there is sufficient interest

Book your spot here!

Seb, in case I forget later can we talk about having some on the merch table at ssm please? big_smile

btw GET OUT OF MY DREAMZ YOU AUSSIES, FOCK

Clearly means you need to come out of square sounds and see the Aussies for real. big_smile

Last year in the leadup to BlipOz I had HEAPS of chip dreams, all about the festival and its success or failure, or sometimes both in one dream. Like, at least every week or two. I have had one so far this year but see that number increasing a LOT in the next couple of months. I don't remember dreams a lot but chip people do appear in my non festie related dreams sometimes those people are friends not chip folks I don't know personally

Hey all,

So those of you who have seen the line up would know that Mr.Spastic is on the bill to come and play Square Sounds Melbourne We unfortunately can't cover 100% of the artist's expenses, so he has given the ability for you to help him out my donating to support him.

Although it's not a kickstarter type deal, he is still offering some gifts to anyone who donates - no matter what the donation is, including his upcoming release (before it is officially out) and previously unreleased material.

This is someone who has in the past not charged for his releases or taken donations, so if you are a fan go and donate at his website

Thanks!

I dont think the hashtags will be a big deal - supersonic was this past weekend anyway iirc and Im a big believer in hashtags should be short. Our rather long username may not hurt our tweets but retweets its a bit annoying for

also big-ups to keff, the promo artwork has all been pretty phenomenal

He's amazing - his Blip Tokyo t-shirts are also SO good - I generally never buy t-shirts at shows - because I dont wear them. Don't even have most of the soundbytes one. this one I HAD to do

When's the second announcement?

I can understand not wanting to wait more than two days if you have to book tickets to get here but you're in Melbourne, you'll be here anyway! tongue

Short answer is, we haven't decided yet. Trust me, it will be equally good and the festival as a whole is going to rock your socks off

Thats the second hashtag we had that someone else was using. Screw it we'll just get people coming to square sounds intending to see Tiesto and Major Lazer smile

Due to my inability to stop rocking out to Chip Tanaka, I of course missed SOMEWHERE this was meant to go!

Square Sounds Melbourne - the world's newest chipmusic and retrotech festival (with additional stops that will include Tokyo in Autumn!) - has it's first show planned for Feb 2013 - and with the Australian part of the crew behind Blip Festival the organisers, you can guess that it will be an amazing event packed with live music and visuals as well as additional side events like workshops and screenings, and a line up that will rock your world!

Is any one up for a Thursday evening meal or something? We have done this the previous two years it was kinda fun! I might or might not be there.

I love that you want to organise a meal that he may or may not be in attendance for. I'd suggest that we might arrive late (as we don't get in til 7) but if its at that Indian place again, I'll never find it without a tour guide hehe

Awesome - and some amazing artists on there too!

Okay this is better.

Theres going to be a bunch of those floating around at the show smile

Ill fix this later when Ihave time big_smile

Bumping because its in two sleeps!

Maybe, but I'm pretty sure the people who will be there will be happy with the lineup as it stands

Man, it drives me crazy I cant access bandcamp at work and then I get home and I forget about these things. *writes note on hand*

SoundBytes12 has a line up packed with friends from across the ditch, here to put their very kiwi stamp all over Melbourne’s chip scene.

If you go online looking for ways to describe $noregazZzm (http://snoregazzzm.bandcamp.com)  no two explanations are alike. Some of the words used are ‘spastic’, ‘snotty’, ‘parodic disco’ ‘party oriented’ and  ‘great fun’. He’s heading to Melbourne with frequent tour-mate Fauxhound (http://fauxhound.bandcamp.com), who has been described as “New Zealand’s answer to 10K” which pretty much will tell you everything you need to know about the type of insanity this show is going to be.

You may have been blown away by our other kiwi (who is now a based here in Burn city) A_Art (http://aart.bandcamp.com) at the last Soundbytes.  We sure were and are super excited to have him back on a bill to join his countrymen this time around.

We haven’t forgotten the Aussies. Crowd favourite, cTrix (http://soundcloud.com/ctrix) will be fresh back from his European tour playing to huge crowds alongside some chip favourites like Henry Homesweet, Sabrepulse, Cheapshot and 8GB. Expect new tracks, old favourites, and as always, amazing tunes. Our other Melbournite, Pselodux (http://pselodux.bandcamp.com), returns to SoundBytes with amazing 80’s style, synth-leads, and prog rock stylings to get you dancing. Backing these guys up is Abortifacient (http://soundcloud.com/abortifacient) playing his last Aussie show before he heads to Japan for a tour that includes Blip Tokyo!
