In Australia, it's terrible, especially in Adelaide. The is a few artists in Melbourne, but that's about it

I realise that all the Aussies have come out and spoken about this post, and maybe Adelaide doesn't hae as many artists as some of the cities but I can think of at least a half dozen artists there. Also, in Australia we travel to see chip and because of that have one of (imho) the tightest chip communities you could get in such a huge country

Go to one of DJTr!ps ultracade events or Joypad - Adelaide actually has more regular events that have a chip element than any other state in Australia. But if you REALLY want to come to a proper chip show get over to Melbourne for a SoundBytes and meet a bunch of the other Aussie artists.

There was hardly any scene in Melbourne three and a half years ago.

That may have changed somewhat wink

Seriously, people are probably out there and you just don't know it. It still amazes me when we have people come to a SoundBytes and say "I had no idea anyone in Melbourne was doing this. I thought it was just me"

We do plan on streaming SB this time around but It will be at like 6am NY time hehe

I love that theres all these chip events happening all over the world on one day. Shame that this one and SoundBytes will overlap... but maybe we can play some of it to our crowd between SB Sets if theres a stream

I don't think we made an announcement here, but A_Art has joined the lineup as well. Pretty excited to finally get him on a bill!

The girl I sit next to recently entered a competition online to win a $2000 voucher. She won because she spent a LOT of time, posting on facebook, asking every person she spoke to on the phone whether they had "liked" her, sending emails, and asking people whether they had asked their friends to also "like" and explaining why it was important. Her emails and posts about it were kind of cute and funny.

Theres apparently also a bunch of sites where you can trade likes for likes for other people entering competitions.

She ended up with about 600 likes and shes just one (pain in the ass) individual.

Fen I think the law stands for city of Melbourne that it needs to be on private property for the food trucks to be allowed. Streets aren't allowed sad (We've talked about food trucks at shows as a possibility before)

Ilija - there will be rum (the Order actually has a great rum based pirate themed cocktail) and I kind of like the idea of sitting in the rooftop bar with a cigar hehe

Bumping this as I have the ability to send a couple to blip. Bry, one is there with your name on it. Can send a couple more if you let me know within 24 hours, as I'll see cTrix tomorrow at WAVERAVE. The deal is you have to buy him a drink ina ddition to paying the $35 for  the hoody (and that I can literally only send a couple)

I like this thread at least as much as I liked the pet ones. They need to come back

Anyone who is seriously into chipmusic realises that Blip Festival  NY is coming up.  We know Melbourne just had it’s own Blip Festival, but since most of you (and us) can’t make it to NY, so we’re starting a revolution and having our own chip show gathering, right here in Melbourne over the same weekend.

That’s right, SoundBytes is back for our first post-Blip show, with a new night and a new venue and some new names who are lighting up the chipmusic scene.

First up for his first SoundBytes we have Slato, who was a regular at Mana Bar Brisbane’s “Pocket Music” nights. You may have seen his awesome performance at the recent open mic, and he’s bringing his gameboys back to Melbourne to get you moving.

Next up, Rebelling against the game boys we have a double shot of Amiga epicness from two of Sydney’s finest. DF0:BAD, who you may have previously seen performing as Vicious Cyclist will be a gabber kick to the face, while Australia’s favourite performing “wale”, Peaches, along with her dad godinpants, will be performing amazing aquatic inspired jungle d&b for your listening pleasure.

Of course, we haven’t forgotten our local talent, with Maddest Kings Alive, Derris-Kharlan and dot.AY rounding out what is sure to be a stellar lineup. And, just for a little something extra special, with an AV setup like The Order has (trust us it’s amazing!), we’d be crazy not to have visuals too to round out the evening so for the first time at SoundBytes we have Abortifcient and iLKke (yeah the guy that makes our amazing posters!!) ensuring that you’re not only getting the audio chip experience but spectacular visuals too.
$15 on the door, $10 presales here

¡Viva la Revolución!

Cheapy - technically this is only two, but he deserves all the invites he gets smile

Theres some gold on that lineup so far. Can't wait to see the other 2/3

I assume there will be a large contingent of Aussies in attendance again! smile Team SoundBytes def plans on going, especially since we can't make it to NY
