Telephone signals and announcements

This is a dead link. sad And just when I finally had an idea to use them for. If anybody happened to download any of these and would be willing to share, I would be eternally grateful. In the meantime, here is something similar that people may find useful:

Signals and Circuit Conditions of USA and Canadian Telephone Systems
Includes many wav and ra samples.

I'm surprised that no one else has posted about this yet? Korg made an official announcement at NAMM that they're making a new version of the MS-20 with the original analog circuitry (along with MIDI and USB wink ) in a case about 86% the size of the original. MSRP is $599 (originally rumored to be around $800). Did you just ejaculate? Because I did.

You learn music by listening to music

I concur as well! When I was very little, my parents never bought me "children's music" for which I am so grateful! They just played me their records and I think that more than anything fostered an early love and appreciation for music. I've always been into music and listened to it daily as far back as I can remember. Being exposed to a wide variety of music from many different generations; my parents, grandparents, friends, friends' older siblings, etc.... help further this. I am entirely self-taught, with a little bit of help from wikipedia, MIDI files, etc.... but having been ingesting music my whole I think helped me internalize, on an instinctive level things like melody, harmony, progression, rhythm, etc.... There are things I knew but didn't completely understand until I read about them!

[shameless self promotion] If you're playing any 2-step/garage/uk bass music stuff in your set, maybe consider mixing in something from this single. [/shameless self promotion]

Does sound like it will be a lot of fun though. Good luck with the set and have a great NYE everyone!

*rubs hands together in a villainous manner*

Excellent.... no one else will be releasing music in 2013? I will fill the void by releasing an EP daily comprised of chiptune covers I made in Garageband with MIDIs I downloaded off the internet.

the n64 doesn't have any peculiar/unique quirks with it's sample/soundfont playback, does it?

Aside from the low sample rate, none that I'm aware of. Woolyss links to some interesting soundfonts from N64 though.

What a beautiful couple of songs! This is just the creative spark I needed to motivate me.

EDIT: It's funny too, I just heard Kubbi for the first time a couple of days ago on the World Wide Juke Vol.5 comp. Ironic, considering what I was contemplating doing with these remix stems.

can we still discriminate against fakebit and garageband chiptunes

No.

My cousin gave me a Pong console. It had Pong and a couple of similar games built into the ROM. This was probably around 1980 or '81? A year or so later, my parents bought me an Atari 2600. wink

i hate skrillex but he is better than "real dubstep" so stop complaining he is giving your genre a bad name

your genre DESERVEDLY has a bad name and it would have an even worse name without skrillex

now i will play the game

I'm only going to say this once, so listen carefully. The only reason people hate on "real dubstep" in the first place is because of Skrillex and similar brostep artists. If it weren't for them, most people wouldn't even know what dubstep was enough to even hate it in the first place. It is for that reason that we hate Skrillex.

Whoa buddy. Wouldn't go that far.

lol. i just mean like when people talk about dubstep sucking or turning into what it is or what not theyre quick to point fingers at skrillex. hes just a scapegoat.

I think he's quite a bit more than a scapegoat.... I do find it amusing though that Rusko is the self-proclaimed creator of brostep. They've both as guilty as sin.
