i dont know the exact situation in the US, I mean they have magfest n shit, and pulsewave which is a regular chip event that happens every month, theres also 8static...

Think both pulsewave & 8static aren't really doing events anymore, at leaat nit regularly.

Em is really trying her best to keep it going as best she can, even if she's just doing the Festival yearly. Last I heard PW was still doing pretty well, but that could have changed. The hardest part about keeping monthly 8static going was attendance at monthly shows. I feel like in the early days we had a younger crowd attending a lot of the monthly shows, and most of them were local college kids. While die-hard chip fans kept attending, I feel like it's been harder to get outsiders to attend shows, and that goes for any scene in Philly.

i have one called nanosynth, would that be it?  it may just be a renamed rom though

no, i actually think nanosynth is an entirely different program (at least in controls).

Are you referring to the first link? That program is called nanosynth, but is listed as nanovoice. I think the names are interchangeable. There are a few differences when putting down notes, and the tones seem to be a lot "dirtier".

Well, now it's there...

Did you just put it up there? I only found the second one on the dev archive.

Also, could you, and would you do more with Shitwave? :]

Trenton has none-so, terrible! But, I'll be moving to Philly at the end of July, so it's going to get a whole lot better!

After updating my nanoloop 1.6 cart, and putting shitwave in slot-A, I decided to load nanovoice into slot-B. I didn't have much luck, but that's a whole 'nother story. I'm here to post the links to both demo ROMs for your enjoyment.

2003 nanovoice ROM

To my knowledge, this version was never released as an official cartridge. It varies slightly from the version produced on cartridges (below) in that, while holding down A (after selecting a tone) and pressing left or, right, it generates a sequence of tones from highest to lowest. It's a feature I wish he'd included in the carts he produced a few years later.

Nanovoice GB Demo ROM

This is the version released on official cartridges a few years back.

I haven't been able to find a way to store these with my other carts. Maybe I'll buy a few more and store them all in one cartridge case.

is it a real issue? how fragile is the NL cart?

It's not a huge issue at all, I'm just picky and like all my cases to close. tongue

Also, if you decided to store the cart on its own, it might move around in the case a bit, but not enough to damage it.

I have yet to do this with mine, but I suppose it's only a matter of time.

Full sets! PRAISE, SATAN!

So bummed that I'm not going to get to see Jake play a full set and I'm going to miss Misfit Chris again. I have a graduation party to attend and I'd really hoped that they weren't going to be on the same day. hmm

Blip Festival this year was pretty rad. I didn't have any problems with venue staff until Saturday night. On Friday night any of the security guards I talked to directed me to where I need to go and couldn't have been more courteous.

The aforementioned hangup rubbed me the wrong way, that's all that should have been said about it.

LA is pretty sketchy

No, it's really not, if you use common sense.

In my experience here, you generally have to go looking for trouble. Most of the crime is related to the drug and gang scene. You stay away from that shit, you'll be fine. If you're walking around at night, walk with multiple people. You should do this anywhere though. If you don't know where you are, stick to the main streets and stay out of the neighborhoods. Obviously wandering around a primarily industrial area at night is fucking stupid. The LA that is portrayed in 80s / 90s movies and gangsta rap has calmed the fuck down a lot. And even then, those things reference only certain areas. What the fuck reason would you ever have to go to Compton? It's a bunch of strip malls and houses. Yes, it's fairly dangerous, but there is NOTHING THERE.

As a kid growing up in Anchorage, Alaska, I always thought that place was way more dangerous...lots of drugs and people who think they're tough, most of them have guns, and Alaska is definitely a place where people can easily disappear...I have a lot of friends up there from my childhood who are now either in jail or dead, yet you never hear about Anchorage being even slightly dangerous...

I was looking at a census report and Anchorage was ranked pretty high for most dangerous cities in America. Who would've thought. That's crazy, man.

Camden, South Jersey

I've heard so many people say Camden is the worst as is Trenton, but I've never had any problems.

This is pretty cliche but, no matter where you are, you should always watch your back, and if you don't feel comfortable there, then you probably shouldn't be there.

I've heard East New York as well as the aforementioned Brownsville are probably the roughest spots in Brooklyn, but I've never been there, so that's all just speculation, to me anyway.

Also, Mott Haven and Morrisania/East Morrisania in the Bronx. But, I've been through sections of what most people call the South Bronx, and I think it's pretty nice. It reminded me of Trenton (with a lot more local flavor) and once your were off the main avenues a bit it was actually really peaceful (if you didn't know NY history, you might never have guessed that there were once abandoned tenements and rubble there in the 70s) . It was nice to get away from all the noise in Manhattan for a while.
