Congrats man.

Thanks for the extra stuff Jake.

I think Iphone/ipad apps might be getting a little beyond the scope of the FAQ? I was thinking mainly of a place for people to get started with most of the popular platforms and software which we tend to use. Totally valid idea though!

Pretty often people join the forum who are fairly new to chipmusic. Welcome! Similar questions tend to crop up.

Common topics are the nature of chipmusic, questions about where to find chipmusic and who to listen to and how to make or perform chipmusic. This little FAQ provides links to threads on the forum and links to external resources which should be useful.

If you would be kind enough to read the FAQ before posting new threads on these topics it would be awesome!

› what is chipmusic?

› Where can I find chipmusic? / What chipmusic should I listen to?

› How do I make chipmusic?

› How do I play live chipmusic?

Thanks for reading and please let me know of any additions/mistakes etc!

I think he means the cm.org crew are occasionally a little hostile to towards this particular question but this time everyone seems to have been rather friendly and helpful which is a pleasant surprise.

I would have a wade through this lot

http://www.iimusic.net/category/catalog

It is all very high quality spanning all kinds of genres. Try these guys

??? - Wall You Need is Love (heavenly dub)
C-jeff - Electric (Epic prog)
Alex Mauer - Lo-Gear (downtempo VGM style)
little-scale - Dynasty (Experimental headfuck)

I must confess though, I think if one concentrates overly on the genre/equipment you are somewhat missing the point.

Jesus I had no idea Patric had AHX stuff on 8BC, I think some of this was in his 2009 blip set? Its amazing.

Also I think this is the link pulselooper mentioned for the PDF Manual. Posted by Syphus on 8bc. The PDF seems laid out in a slightly odd way, be sure to check the page numbers.

Edit - Looks like the PDF was designed to be printed and folded s the pages would be back to back then the numbering would make sense.

Edit - extra points for starting your praise thread with a grumpy old man moment.

I have been a kind of passive fan of AHX for a while but know very little about it other than Random's awesome TCTD podcast and a couple of monotonik releases

Best Of AHX Vol.1:Dexter's Pinkboratory - http://www.mono211.com/content/releases/mtkmp96.html
AHX to Excess - http://www.mono211.com/content/releases/mtkmp107.html

I appreciate that listening on an Amiga would be the best way to go but I do most of my music listening on my MP3 player on the train. If anyone knows of any other awesome compliations AHX  or Hivelytracker (don't know if much about hively) releases in a handy portable audio format I would love to know about them. Also any other artists I should be listening to? I know about Jazzcat, Syphus, Pink and Geir Tjelta.

Does anyone know of any tutorials that are really great for getting the hang of making your own sounds or other necessary skills? Any tips or anything? I know this is a really general topic but I just feel quite lost and confused.

I made a little post on 8bc ages back which might be relevant
