Here's your link. http://8bc.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=16402 Merry Christmas.

Neat, I hadn't seen that. Still the genesis is a unique system, and it would be nice to have a native tracker. Though I'm not sure that anyone here sees the payoff as big enough.

If you hear some wacky chip Christmas music on [adult swim] this year, it is my xmas album.

If you have any xmas music you want me to add as a free download mini xmas comp, I could throw it on the site for exposure. My URL http://www.8bitchristmas.com is flashed during the commercials.
So let me know if there is any interest and if I can get a decent enough amount of songs I can toss this on the site.

I heard that stuff! I was like "damn adult swim probably has some team of hipsters closing in on chip music now." tongue That's cool.

There's also a new MidiBox coming out soon in 2011... First there was SammicSID, soon there will be SammichFM! smile

I'm on the list to have 2 of the first available kits. I'll let you know how it sounds when i finish them.

oh em gee, that is badass.

Just playing Devil's advocate here: What is the advantage of having a native Sega tracker when FM synthesis can be found in many, many other Yamaha products? Is it just to say "I make music on a Genesis," or is there some compelling argument I'm missing?

Do you know of a better way of programming a yamaha fm chip? The dx7 is a little expensive. I have a cool yamaha fm chip in a circuit bent keyboard...but i can't like touch my fingers to the pins to make it do what i want. It sounds so cool, if there were a cheap way to do it i would.

I'm pretty sure they've redesigned the keyboard and fucked up the case color by basing it on how the case looks today, (Non-retrobrite'd) rather than what it should look like. But we shall see about that.

man i missed the mark on that one. lol.

Thank you for this lukass. I was planning on making a vst, but this looks great. I am making a reaktor patch for interfacing with osc devices, such as my ipod touch. I'll put that somewhere when it's finished.

I'm hoping smoeone more talented in sound designing will make some kick ass bank for that vst.

I don't know how talented I am, but I'll upload what I make with it.

Thanks 4mat, that did clear up a few things actually. In case anyone cares, I found an archive of old C64 books. http://www.bombjack.org/commodore/books.htm

the waveform visualizer is very useful i think.

the thing i really want is to see the value of the noise shape register live.

neato

usually I start with maybe just a solid 8 phrase loop. then copy and paste it a few times. then sculpt at it like a piece of clay. then transition to another progression, and repeat from step 1. i do that till i have a song.

We're in a period where a lot of the artistic roles are in flux. It's better not to worry about semantics in a time like this. Just do what you do, and don't condemn other folks for doing what they do.

well, enjoy your overly simplified world view

Yeah, aren't we just talking about labels here? Who cares about that?

from Websters:
Definition of MUSICIAN: a composer, conductor, or performer of music.
