This is something I've really struggled with - just getting my name out there.
I've played 2 gigs, with another one soon (one of them was a school thing, as is the upcoming on. The other one, I played in a deserted bar to my family, girlfriend, a sound guy, and a promoter.). I've done a few releases.
But it's impossible to get the ball rolling. You'd think that y'know, you'd do a release, get more interest, interest would get you gigs, gigs would get you more interest, more releases would get more interest yadda yadda yadda.

I've managed to pass my music around some friends and stuff, but it's impossible to find any gigs or get my music generally "out there".

My brother found it fairly easy when he was younger than me (he's in a fairly successful band btw) as there was a youth music collective, with regular gigs and shit and there was actually a scene.
I'm 17, so I'm generally considered too young to play most normal stuff. But there's no youth stuff.

And nobody has ever commented on any releases I've posted here/8bc.

HOW DOES I BECUM FAMUZ?

I was wondering when people would mention Syphus!
He "quit", then played a gig (and was fucking AMAZING.)
Then played another.
So hopefully he's back.

Amiga and violin, goddamn.

Indie or punky stuff.
The Undertones, The Clash, Johnny Foreigner, Billy Bragg.
Huge influences from reggae and ska too - bands like The Specials, Toots and the Maytals, Augustus Pablo.

Pretty much nothing electronic. I adore Hot Chip and LCD Soundsystem, but I dont think there's anything in my music inspired by them.

I also missed out Pulp, Jamie T, and The Smiths. Oops!

Lolwut at crazy bad press for EMS 64m carts ._.
I've had mine for over a year now, and never had any problem with it at all.
I found the bank switching great - got some game soundtracks and a couple games on page 2 - and that it never interfered with LSDJ on page 1 (I do find however that after booting some roms, the song stored in SRAM is replaced with 00's. Reloading it works absolutely fine, so just save your song when you're done. Which I always do anyway...)
Never had any trouble with it on multiple DMGs, GBCs and my SP. Nothing wrong at all!
No data loss, and never had any trouble flashing it and stuff.

Don't see much reason to not get one, cause they're super cheap.

Abrasive's cart looks fucking sick though. Can't wait for that!

Finally listening.
This is fucking good!

I don't think the gameboy noises are "cliche" - there's only a certain amount you can do with square waves!
Really liking this.Keep it uppppppp, need more

Not everything produced on a gameboy is awful unce.

In fact, I've probably heard more in the HVSC. So yeah.
I could re-transcribe all my music onto my Atari ST - would that entitle me to play your gig? Cause it'd no longer be "gameboy music" and therefore not shitty breakbit.

Fuck your generalisations sir.

I haven't even been able to get on it, nevermind get on a slightly fucked up version. Bawww.

My girlfriend actually loved chipmusic before we were together, so the fact I make it is cool to her, and she describes it just as "chiptune" or "chipmusic".

My mam, on the other hand, gives the description "He takes apart gameboys and stuff and plugs them into old Amiga computers and turns them into synthesizers" ._.;

This website presents itself as a forum, with music uploading added on.
8bc presents itself as a media-sharing website, with an included forum.

I see nothing wrong with adopting 8bc's format.

I sync my DMG to my Atari ST for a couple songs, mainly for a bit of added oomph to some parts. I really need to work some more ST parts into tracks. But everything is written for one DMG and sounds fine that way (well, I play live instruments over the top (remember those? You like, did stuff in realtime! Crazy)).
There's Sloopygoop's cover of Sgt Peppers which featured 8 DMGs I think? Can't remember. It had a lot though hahaha

I've gotta say, this is a fucking awesome idea!
You don't need to rewire the buttons though do you? Cause the LSDJ keyboard lets you use the d pad and buttons doesn't it?
Don't have one, so I'm not too sure.

If you can sort out the cart slot, this will be amazing.

It's not too bad. The "arcade stick" is practically exactly the same as the control stick on a 360 oddly enough..

Can't beat just a straight dmg though!
