Muse, The Back Horn, Rachmaninov, Silvio Rodríguez, and a little bit of Michiru Yamane.

...and even some of you guys. wink

Maybe the appeal is 100% result for other people; fuck how it's made, how's it sound? And maybe people occupy all imaginable points in between, with leanings favoring one direction or the other, but still able to appreciate both aspects. The idea of a spectrum like this is also a total oversimplification, but at least it allows for a continuum between the two extremes, whereas I feel like a lot of the conversation about process & result tends to feel more like the two extremes existing in isolation and opposition. I just don't think that's an accurate way to look at the subject.

I've never seen it as a spectrum, really. I see it more like a Venn diagram: there are those who are into the process, there are those who are into the result. But some of us fall right in the intersection.

I don't see it as a spectrum because I don't bother looking at how MUCH people are into one aspect or the other. If they like music, then they do. If they like sequencing and its nuances, then they do. Everything else falls into the dilemma of 'taste' and it would be too complicated to consider.

Because getting into details such as if one person like the process and/or the result is already quite complicated in itself anyway.

But yes, dammit, yes. Both terms aren't apart, and by definition they shouldn't: the process brings forward a result. The result comes from a process.

I do feel limitations are a very good part of chipmusic. Being limited forces you to keep it simple and to the point instead of going all over the place, and contrary to what many people believe, keeping it as simple as possible makes some of the best music around.

I've fortunately not shown most of my stuff outside the Internet. The sole exception would be my mother, who happens to be amazed by my stuff, but "rather have me playing it with real-sounding instruments". I don't wanna show my father, because he'll only speak of "how much can you sell this for" and "why aren't you charging for your stuff", among other rather consumerist-like comments.

I've yet to try with some friends of mine, but I think they'd understand. ...I think.

Between one hour and three months. Depends on length and complexity.

And if I'm actually experienced at the tool I'm using or not.

lol, everyone mentions the gameboys

I don't have a wife or a girlfriend, but everyone I know that knows my yet-to-be-productive hobby says I make, and listen to, "vintage electronic music". Which makes the whole ordeal much less awkward.

I also have the advantage of not using actual hardware (mostly because I can't find any around here), so people don't have to go "oh he fiddles around with a NES" or stuff like that. Though I'd love to get my hands on an FDS.

Incidental databend? Keep the pictures dude. Hell, collage them up and post them on 8bc, they seem to thrive on that stuff.

It looks pretty interesting to tell you the truth.

Oh my god, I want one. Seriously, I do.

I also want a CFO. (Easier to get than a baby, I guess.)

Whoa, really? Ouch...

It's always awkward to find out about the death of someone on the Internet.

Then all we have to do is bring it back to life.

Let's make this happen.

This is also useful for ripping data from GBS files. GB sound on NSFs by means of FDS/N106 = yesssssss.

EDIT: I get the download perfectly... There's something wrong on your side, or something right on mine.

someone tell me when they come up with a genre called "corecore" so I can finally declare pop culture is dead to me.

I'll have to send it late as well, my computer crashed and I barely lose the file. It's in the backup (and it's not like I didn't publish it in-game, I have it available to re-record if needed), but I don't have the backup with me. I'll do anything possible to get it uploaded tomorrow in the afternoon (tops).
