yeah i saw FiveG is super steep. well it seems to be for US made stuff like Roland. Having said that i might well pick up that JV 2080 if possible. says theyre about 150 quid......i found one in china but such hardware is SUPER expensive here, especially if you are a foreigner. Dickhead wouldnt bidge from 300 quid so i politely told him to fuck off. Maybe i ll take my sampler with me and pay those dudes to let me rip some beast samples off a fairlight or something : )

thanks guys. yeah i guess i ll head to those two shops then.......im thinking of getting an ensoniq sampler...mmm....that would be nice. and maybe a roland JV 2080 or something of a similar nature.........i cant quite afford  my prophet just yet haha. Im staying in Shibuya so thats handy. peace.........and VR - im looking at that now - NICE !

I didnt know where to post this.........
basically wanted to hit up any Japan peops here for some advice and shit because i will come to Tokyo for a week in November to play a show and go to a ridiculous electronic music festival thing.
Mostly im wondering if locals can recommend any spots to hit up to empty my wallet.
obviously looking for the usual goodies, be it old hardware, synths , samplers etc and also decent game shops to maybe pick up a saturn or dreamcast or something.
Ive got 4 days free to do as i please so i ll have alot of time to go shopping.
im aware of that five g place of course....that looks like heaven and torture rolled into one !
and a friend told me about a smaller place that might have better deals called 'echigoya music'.
Are there thrift shops/charity shops (this kind of thing) in tokyo to look out for ?
and while im making a thread be sure to hit me up if you'd like to come to the show i am playing, or if there is anything awesome going on chipmusic wise between 22nd and 29th of november.
cheers

i think things are going pretty nicely.
Active development, creative musicians, thats all i care about really. But then i am stuck in china so i dont hold my breath for much shit going on here chipmusic wise.
im pretty happy that there exists people mixing 8 bit with other styles. So bravo Noisewaves, boys club, J Arthur Keenes.
Im also glad that decent electronic music like monodeer is seen as decent electronic music in 2012. Like i can play that shit in a set and i dont have to announce its a chiptune or anything like that it, people just appreciate it for being good electronic music.
You know, it would be nice to see J Arthur Keenes on The Voice. And that he got picked by Christina and won. That would be amusing and awesome in equal measures.
seriously though, im happy as long as chipmusic doesnt do some absurd merging with EDM and go radio mainstream. I know this type of pop shit is incorporating 8 bit sounds, im talking more like lady gaga singing over gameboy music......until that happens i will refrain from killing myself.

haha

come on . . . dont mention calvin harris in a machinedrum thread. thats insulting : P

for sure. you can hear it a mile off in all his older stuff on M3rck. You can hear alot of classic M3rck records were made on trackers, i know proswell also used Impulse for one of my favourite albums of all time -  'Konami'. Man, machinedrum makes sooo much music its insane ! not too keen on all his newer stuff, but man i got so many choppy idm hip hop tracks from him in my monday night dj playlist !

So, reluctantly i am selling my genmdm midi interface for the sega megadrive.

I have the opportunity to pick up a piece of gear i have wanted almost forever, so unfortunately i have to let go of some of my other toys to raise funds.

Someone give it a nice home please. I feel almost guilty selling it. But im sure i can replace it one day.

ONLY LISTED FOR 24 HRS STARTING FROM NOW. YOU SNOOZE YOU LOOZE.

started the price as what i paid for it - 45 squids.

thats dope. wow. i got run this on my projector and make tunes on the wall for 25 quid. never heard of this before, its quite amazing its so small and can actually run useful software and have audio etc. Good job.

JUST MAKE REALLY SHIT MUSIC THAT YOU FIND ANNOYING, REPETITIVE AND YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY MADE THIS HORRID THING KNOWN AS CHIP STEP.MAKE SURE YOUR LFO STYLE BASS IS VERY LOUD IN DA MIX AND LOTS OF MED RANGE FREQUENCIES AND NO LOW END BELOW 120HZ, OTHERWISE IT WONT SOUND LIKE A DUCK GETTING RAPED.
