"you will suck until you have written at least 100+ songs."
That sentence makes me wanna quit,it seems very far away D:> lol
f that makes you want to quit then you should probably quit
i dont mean that to sound rude
but you should make music because you love making it, of course you want to make good music, but its not gonna happen overnight. thats why many people here have been doing it for years, 3 yrs, 10 yrs , 20 yrs some of us......because you will always learn new things and get better.
but thats not to say you dont get people making rad stuff very quickly. making a decent well structured emotive song thats simple in its productions is much better imo to making something ultra complex synthesis wise and ultra high tech tracking skills - but that is dull and lacks soul.
my point. er whats my point......er my point is this. you can for example look at someone like 'xxyyxx'
only 16 yrs old, made tunes for about a year, his album is fairly simple in song structure, but the way he build the tracks and the instruments he uses worked perfectly. no bella and whistles. just good listenable songs. people took note and bam he's off and running.
my last point is dont take it hard when people knock your shit. i didnt listen cos im at work, but thinking back to alot of 'my first lsdj's' (including ours/mine) they are 9 times out of 10 utter basic shit. someone will tell you that now and you ll be dis heartened.....but you ll play it back in a years time and be like 'yeah that sucks donkey dick'. trust me
also i would stress your first release. dont rush it. chipmusicians always seem to release their first album too fast, its tepid uninspired unce or something that people stream and think 'thats boring, or really amateur, i can tell this dude only just started out'. Thats what not to do. I released my first album on bandcamp in 2010 i think. i started making tunes around 2005, it took a long time before i wanted something with my name on it that i was proud of. cos by then i didnt care if no one liked it, cos i knew it was at least half decent and i spent a lot of time on it.
yeah im stoned and bored at work as usual
i types too 2 2 2 much

Re: New drudgey warblings (7 replies, posted in Releases)
thanks alot for listening and the kind words guys.
im glad someone said 'damaged' 'diggin all the space'.
I aimed for that in a lot of it, i felt like all my previous is very hyper on the mid-range melodies and 10 layers of clicky percussion, i wanted to try and make the sound deeper, build a groove, but still be melodic.
And the murky bits are from my multitrack i got a few months back.....gives a super nice warble to run some synth through cassette, a really old shit cassette i left in my humid, damp chinese bathroom haha
peace

I haven't posted any new chipmusic anywhere since the ep on kittenrock in february.
I haven't actually made any chipmusic or put any 8-bits in anything i've made since then. I wanted to keep my next chip endevours pure, so i will make more with the midi megadrive and midi gameboy once i get my hands on that beauty from Little Scale.
In the mean time, i ve been making really odd slow hip hop esque ambient stuff, with some cliche gansta raps and shit, you know the vibe im on about. I thought i'd link my latest set of tunes here if thats alright. I know that about 50% of humans listening to my shit come from here and 8bc.
So incase anyone is hella stoned and want s to catch up on some downstate ketamine shizzle have a listen. Would be good to know what some of you guys think because its quite different but at the same time distinctly downstates yo. thanks. peace. yeah ii write alot....im always too lean by midnight : )

my dad has a picture of me playing a gig stuck on his desk at work. he's dead proud i got to play some big'ish gigs. he has my cd in his car too. i think he enjoys bragging to his mates about his 'musician son' haha, he used to give me shit for my unprofessional messy hair, but when he heard about the music and actually listened and saw me play shows he backs me up....my mum is all 'get your haircut you scruff you're nearly 30', and my dads 'leave im alone, he's a musician he's not supposed to have a short back and sides ahha'..........my mum, well she just likes the chilled stuff i make, stuff w piano.....she's so cool she even sent me a youtube link on facebook of her favourite sigur ros song : ) im so proud haha. my parents are awesome !
