make themed compilations because chipmusic really really lacks compilations.

the most important way to contribute is to paint your gameboys. all of them.

but to be serious - id say making good music is the best contribution ! listen to peoples stuff you're interested in ! share it if you like it ! and personal messages are always nice, i write to people i really like, and its nice when people write to me.

peace

Hi,

Mostly im looking for maybe an old string synth. Siel orchestra I or II  or something of this nature.
Or a Roland JX-3P is something im looking out for too.
Obviously im keeping a look on gumtree but figured id ask on here as well incase some people are hoarding shit they want to part with.
But anything you got jusy holla and i might be interested. Id be back for most of june so can drive to collect and all that jazz,
Can trade you some shit, if anyones after a gold gb light, or my arduinoboy i made in a frankenstein face.........i never use them anymore and doubt i ever will.

I think Sievert was lined up to play a show recently, but he hasn't released another epic like "Beyond the Frontier" in years.

he does stuff under the name "MonsterVision" now

I knew it had to be someone proper legit. MV is fucking awesome.

Hello

After i released Farewell Static last spring, i had also compiled this pseudo b-side collection of songs that didnt go on that record.

I had this b-side thing just to give out as free when people bought the CD of Farewell Static
But i figure nows the time to make it free for everyone that wants it.
So grab some old Downstate hits from a few years back if you like.

Thanks

i liked it. its a bit muddy in the bass / low frequencies. but that doesn't matter much to me - i thought it was cool.

key words to cue me cracking up ;

rainbow - tokyo - future - robot - dream - pixel

generally anything with the word chip / bit / 8-bit in it gets frowned upon.
id still give it a play but id narrow down its time to impress from like a minute to about 4 seconds.

honestly - about 80% of chipmusic release have fucking terrible titles dont they ?
i would be more interested to hear good titles haha
i liked 'Pamplemousse'. that was a good name.

hmm i wouldnt see myself feeling comfortable doing this.
wouldnt see myself paying anyone through this either tbh.
i know in a world where people are getting increasingly reluctant to pay for music that there needs to be ways for people to get money but.........
i dunno it seems a redundant service to me.
make a decent ep / video / book and people will pay to support it.
im aware alot of us low level artists are almost expected to give a pay what you want release thesedays, but i still pay for shit frequently if i like it.
I'll admit there have been albums i passed up because they weren't free - but there have also been albums i would never ever have passed up just because they were 10 quid. i figure the albums i will only get for free are simply stuff i deem obviously to be good, but not so good that i cant live without them.
im making a point somewhere soon i hope. er maybe my points is 'make stuff good enough that people dont mind paying for your releases'.
i give my shit away for free unless it physical. this basically tells me deep down that i know havent made something truely wicked yet / established a big enough following that id be confident of getting 500 downloads when its got a price.
i see kickstarter in a similar way.
i would like to add this is my personal view from a musicians side. i say good luck to anyone that uses this and kickstarter and makes the money they need to do what they have planned. i saw anamanaguchi's one yesterday and i say massive props to them.  im certainly not saying i disagree with these things in general. they now have almost 100k to go on tour, make cool shit and thats pretty fucking rad and fair play to them.
and there was my contradiction too
shouldn't type after first spliff post work. makes me ramble
also this is a distinct possibility

ha
i wasnt referencing your post...... i was merely stating "do it as brutal as shitbird". that is a good benchmark  for chiptune and metalz imo yo

hope no-one minds me hijacking this. but i have an unrelated but kind of related bandcamp problem.

so ext hard drive clicked to death : (
hadnt got round to backing up for a few months so its easy to get boomkat shit back....but bandcamp ?
im confused. i have 'my collection' but there's nowhere to re DL my purchases ? hmmmmmmmm
i googled this but didnt come up with any solid answer.
I emailed BC but didnt hear back yet.
Just wondered if any one here had a similar problem, solution or if im just being dumb as fuck (entirely possible)
thanks
