Unfortunately I don't have any video.
It was a last minute idea during a friend's party a while back and we hadn't thought to record it. :s
I intend to do it again soon though, just gotta practice some more...

Not to mention you could use a USB Game controller (if you can find one $14 bucks at radio shack) or XBOX 360 controller if you find the keyboard to be awkward.

Or if your compy's bluetooth compatible, use GlovePIE to configure a Wiimote to control it. heh.

I've used VBAGX on the Wii before, and while it sounds great, if you try to play along with anything else, you suddenly realize how horribly out of tune it is. Other than that, it sounds fine.

wiis are gay, and you would look stupid with a motion controller on stage.

I once added a Wii to my set, emulating MuddyGB through VBAGX and controlling it with a DDR pad.
While I played a keyboard along with LSDJ/DS-10.
It looked ridiculous, but it was amazing and everyone loved it.

Thanks, guys!
And yeah, I made a few posts about it on Tumblr. ^_^'
I go by Josh-Shmosh over there now, trying to make the transition from PianoGameboy to Josh-Shmosh on most sites now.
I'll be posting more stuff here/there soonish, but work recently got pretty busy, and I'm trying to get ready for TN's Geek Media Expo, so it might be a little longer than originally intended.

Not nearly as cool as the rest of the stuff in this thread, but here's a DMG with a few aesthetic changes I made for my girlfriend's birthday a couple weeks ago.
X-Metals blue/purple spraypaint, transparent purple buttons from Kitsch, pink ledx3 backlight and a hot pink screen cover from ASM.

Only ever painted a gameboy twice before, and that was almost two years ago, so I'm happy with the way it turned out.
Took the gameboy, a copy of Tamagotchi and Kirby's Dream Land, and stuck 'em in a white giftbox with a red ribbon and a balloon, Animal Crossing style:

She was pretty happy with it.

I've slowly been bringing my modding hobbies out of retirement over the past couple of months, hopefully gonna start on some more impressive projects soon.

How about- dare I say- MULTIPLE COVERS. We can commission multiple covers and then vote for our favorite (including a diff title if need be) and then have a pdf that will download with which contains every cover we liked but not the main kind.
Cus I really like those ideas too. I'll see if my photographer friends are interested.

Or if you wanted we could have each person do their own cover and have each one tagged to their specific track.
IIRC Pornophonique did something like that, have a different cover for each track.

Also, random thought I just had, since this is going up on Bandcamp, why not have it pay-what-you-want instead of just free, and if anyone decides to give a little money, donate it to something like Toys for Tots or Child's Play?
Gotta spread the holiday spirit, guys.
or something.

So I found an old unfinished version of All I Want for Christmas on one of my carts this morning.
I was thinking about dusting that off and improving/finishing it, but then I read the rest of the thread and found that Lavar might be doing that.
I PMed him to make sure, just in case he decides to do Let it snow instead.
If not, that's cool too though, I can stick with Angels. :v

I find this kind of funny/ironic, seeing as how they recently paid Paul Robertson to animate a character for Gravity Falls.

please use a descriptive thread title... something like "game boy paint job horror stories" could work... also belongs in nintendo handhelds, so i'm going to move it there

Apologies, I should've remembered the title rule.
This was more or less meant to be a general paint (or anything else) screwup thread actually, though. Not Gameboy-specific.

heh, Bow Down was a joke. I guess I should've made it more obvious.
I'll be doing Angels We Have Heard On High or a medley.
Not sure yet.

I call Angels We Have Heard On High.
Would we be allowed to do a second song?
If not, I may put together a medley/mashup of sorts.

EDIT: Actually, I call Bow Down from Invader Zim's Most Horrible X-mas Ever.

This is what can happen if you make your coats too thick when painting.
Especially if you don't wait long enough for each coat to dry.

And THIS is what can happen if you try to fix it.

That is all.

Welp, there's always this piano cover of March of the Nucleotides.
</shamelessselfplug>
Seriously though, sad to see the video taken down.
It was one of my favorite covers of Reformat.

Albums on cartridges. Running all of the music on the actual hardware.
I've been pretty interested in this for a while, and was thinking about doing one as a small project to give to friends/relatives.
I know this has been done a couple times before, but I haven't been able to find a lot of documentation on the subject.
Is there an easy way to go about doing this, are there tools to help stick sng/MML/whatever else into a rom, or would you need to learn to program everything from scratch?
If I would need to start programming everything from scratch, where would I want to go to learn how to? (I don't have a lot of coding experience, I used to dabble in java and ruby, but it's been a couple years since. likely gonna need beginner-level help)
Most of what I've found lately is incredibly out of date, linking to programs with expired downloads or sites that have been taken down altogether.
What I'd like to do eventually (if possible) is a rom that runs a bit like the sound test of Kirby's Dreamland, with a small short animation looping in the corner, and a simple track selector.
Help, please?
