A big part of forums being better is how many great conversations from myspace are still on the net? Forums are a great archive of tutorials, show listings, releases, and site news that is a little more robust for the long term than twitter or facebook.

Trash80 pays for it mostly out of his own pocket. Everyone I know who is active in the scene but doesn't post here cites the day to day interpersonal friction as a sole reason. Why wouldnt you prefer to interact with rad people in a vetted forum like twitter or facebook instead?

I post here cause i like hearing fresh perspectives ( fresh as in unique) and it helps me better understand my own work by talking to people about theirs, but I cant really fault anyone for not wanting to deal with it. I would hope that encouraging people to become self moderators is better in the long term than giving a handful of elites more weapons to use against the casuals who drop in out of curiosity.

Yknow what, if you start outlining poor social behavior no-nos it will go on forever because the problem is posters who already emotionally tone death to how overbearing they are, so unless you want to litigate every single potential socially unacceptable interaction, such an idea is probably doomed to failure.

Poster suggestion:

1. Does it belong on cm.o?
2. Do I think people will like it?
3. Can I handle if no one responds to the post at all, or doesn't respond the way Id want them to?

If no to any then DONT POST.
