midisync would be heart

I would love to but I (currently) wouldn't know where to even start.

A mad idea I was thinking of (and I don't even know if such a thing exists or is possible) would be an optical CV-to-MIDI gadget that you could point at a particular area of the screen and I would flash a small white square on screen in time with the refresh rate of the song. Then these pulses could be turned into MIDI clock (with some smoothing) and so NTRQ would be MIDI master clock to your slave devices.

That's probably insane I know big_smile

I've controlled a child's toy by taping a whole load of LDRs to a plastic tray, and hanging this from the screen of my laptop (modplug tracker --> MIDI out --> pure data --> screen) . I know little-scale once did something similar, but I don't really remember any of the details. It's not such an implausible idea, and possibly one of the easiest and cheapest ways of midi sync to implement. smile

Hehe, from the thread title, I was expecting a new theme for chipmusic.org that made it look like a Game Boy. tongue

But this is cool too, you're definitely king of the fancy painted GBs. smile

That just broke the layout a little bit in Opera - The "tweet tweet tweet" in the top right corner has pushed the big CHIPMUSIC logo underneath the bit that says "Logged in as ant1. Last visit Today 11:23 pm"... not a biggy though! smile

Anyone have the link for those samples of lsdj drum kits? They are really good.

All the LSDJ kits, sampled from a real Game Boy I believe.

I'm kind of unsure whether this counts as a huge random library or not, but it is for the most part clean one-shots, and all of them perfectly suited for tracking (not surprising, since it's part of the Hornet Archive), but there's a load of good ones here.

Please tell me if I'm breaking the rules, so I don't do it again. smile

The problem with flashing this onto carts would be transferring data off of it. I don't really think you can unless you have some dev tools. It's just like with a blue EMS cart and LSDJ, if you don't have some sort of transferrer, you're fucked!

tongue I'd cough up the money for a powerpak just because it'd save a lot of time and hassle!

Either that or buy a USB gamepad and use an NES emulator, that's about as close to the real thing as you'll get.

Arfink already said that with the right cart design, you could indeed transfer data to and fro.

Maybe quotes over a certain length could just appear as a link back to the quoted post, with the name of the poster next to it, since for the most part, quoting someone and writing "I agree" underneath is the same as putting "I agree with [that person]'s last post" with no quote.

There's that big word that says CHIPMUSIC in a nice font, or there's the little pink favicon, maybe those count as logos?

Oatmeal - not designed with chipmusic specifically in mind, but it has PWM, FM, osc sync, user hand-drawn waveforms, arps, etc, so it's got everything you need.

This sounds pretty cool! How do you get into it and what kind of equipment do you need? Are there any number stations in the US?

I think the #1 basic thing you need is a shortwave radio, for example there are some here, just make sure you get the right range (3,000–30,000 kHz, says wikipedia). Other people will know much better than me though.

Yes, and still lets akira^8GB (and me, and everyone else) bookmark things. Why not have a site-wide bookmark system, to bookmark forums, tracks, etc, that you are interested in, but is only visible on your profile page?

Then it isn't easy for anyone to look at their own song and go "Woo, 50 likes/bookmarks/whatever, I am the best!", but it is easy to go to someone's profile page and see what they are into.

Just an idea! smile

Kickstart 1.3
1MB RAM

Looks like I can't use AHX then, but maybe better for Future Composer? smile

I'm also interested in Art of Noise and Delta Music 2, but unsure (doubtful) that'd I'd be able to run them.

Heh, I didn't know about all those problems. Explains why the AHX disk from Syphus doesn't do anything in my A500. Thanks for the info! (I am new to the IRL Amiga experience) smile

So while I'm in the "you need help?" thread, how do I tell what Kickstart ROM I have on my Amiga?
