Yup, the time has come for another Pselodux album. This has been out for about a week now but I thought I'd spam it here just in case. It's 80s prog Amiga style stuff made in Renoise. Hope you enjoy it!

So damn awesome. Even better than Blip last year because I got to see some behind-the-scenes stuff (and of course because I got to play!). The second night was utterly ridiculous.

I'm definitely interested in a video recording if possible; I think that's probably the best set I've played yet!

Thanks to everyone who came along early enough to see my set and/or bought my merch!

Same here! DS-10 is great for tweaking and such but I find it so limiting.. If only it had more patterns!

I used M01 with my electribe sampler lastnight and made some pretty awesome hard, slow footwork stuff. So much bass!

Yes please. I know pselodux will agree.

Fuck yes! I've experimented with FM synthesis on and off over the years but never really got anything decent out of it.

Sorry! i forgot a to add a pertinent question, are there specific things people would want to know about?

also <3s to seb and gip

Like everyone else said, drums would be great. If you feel like a challenge, any insight into making Autechre-quality sounds (say, LP5 era) would be absolutely amazing.

Nice! That EP sounds excellent.
It's a shame there is no pitchbend/modulation. The lack of custom sounds isn't much of a problem for me though, since they're pretty similar to the sounds I already use in Buzz. I played around with it on the way home tonight and came up with a nice little loop. Not sure how it's gonna fit into my composition habits but it's a pretty decent bit of software. Judging by what I made today, my M01 stuff might be in the realm of footwork.. AWESOME

Just started playing around with this, I think it'd be good to write some cheesy 80s/early 90s style tracks with. Has anyone written anything substantial with it?

1. experiment with more volume envelopes (particularly on the bass). it can get boring when there is no pulse in the volume.

2. to much SLIDE at parts for my personal taste.

3. i think the melody would be really nice with a direct harmony at parts.

4. maybe needs some different sections.

keep at it, was good for a first

1. Yeah, that's just my love for 80s prog-rock bass pedal basslines showing through! Usually I keep things simple in the bass department but I'll try something a bit more intricate.

2. Maybe it's a bit over the top, but as my other stuff shows, I'm a bit of a pitchbend whore!

3. Yeah, since I posted the clip I've added a bit of harmony that slides out of one of the bass parts, might do a bit more of that because it sounds super sweet.

4. Yup, this one's gonna be a prog track, I think. I've slowed it down a little and it sounds better that way.

Overall, I love the melodic sounds of famitracker, but I just can't seem to get any of my bassdrum samples to sound good. Maybe I'll use one of the square wave channels..

This is coming along quite nicely actually. Lowered the volume of the melodic content as suggested and it sounds a lot better now. I think this is gonna be quite the prog track, haha!

Thanks guys! Yeah i've got a long way to go before i can get some punch out of my drums in famitracker.. Was considering syncing it to my electribe sampler, maybe i can do that in a live situation.

I say that because I woke up with the melody in my head, so it could be just subconscious channeling of the ridiculous amount of Virt's music that I listened to lastnight. Anyway, I thought I'd put it down as a kind of exercise in using a 'real' chip tracker.
So if anyone could tell me if it's already an existing composition or indeed something original that came to me in a dream (hah!), that would be awesome.

I have always said that antismoking laws are one of the deaths of live music - How many people went outside between sets at blip? There would be were a mass of people constricting the footpath (I think a lot of people walking past were more curious about what was happening inside because of it, but still) having a break means that happens between sets - and not during. No one wants to be that person that everyone uses as an excuse for a smoke break

That's true. Still, I'd like to see more chip musicians playing constant mix sets. It's a lot of work though, even if it's mostly pre-sequenced (like in my sets).

You learn as you go. Its one of those things though - can Melbourne really support mltiple regular chip shows? Maybe we're starting to get to the point where we can now, but it's hard to say

Well, they wouldn't strictly be chip shows I guess. I would like to see more dance-related gigs though that are within our range of styles, presented in a 'constant music' format where live performers play mixed dance sets with DJs in between. Blip was pretty close, and quite a few Soundbytes gigs have been pretty close to that as well but I'd like to see it taken to rave levels where there's no break in the music at all. Would take quite a bit of organising though, especially since a lot of live performers don't really play constant mix sets. But it's something I think about when I go to dnb/breaks/etc shows—I wonder what it'd be like with the kind of stuff that gets played at our chip gigs..

I wish I had the capacity to organise live chip gigs! Unfortunately my promotional ability is next to nothing.

- Crowd likes being interacted with

Yeah! It's hard to get out of the mindset that audience interaction will fail. In fact, 99% of the time they fucking love it!

As long as there were no photos of me, I was pretty smashed the entire weekend.

Can't believe I got laughed at for not recognising bitshifter. I'm terrible with putting aliases to names to faces!

Man, I always miss the in-jokes. Why must I always be fashionably late?
