There's certainly an immature side to this forum which I'm not enjoying so much... maybe I'm just too old

Certainly some sub-genre catagories would be useful too I think.

This is just where a bunch of curmudgeons go to argue about stuff.
Also I remember seeing that thread! But I was at work and couldn't listen to your album. Listening to it now
Haha - yeah, I've seen that a bit here which is why I haven't posted so much!
Play it loud, especially Nicotine Pang

MIDI violins don't work too well either, I have two different systems, neither of them I would trust live, I have a decent Voodoolabs MIDI pedal for triggering - although that controls Guitar Rig atm - I'm sure I could spare 1 pedal There is a bluetooth violin bow out there, but at $3000 it's a tad out of my reach

I've picked up a few different controllers to play around with. I think my issue is I'm not used to standing behind a computer. I've been playing in bands, on electric violin for nigh on 19 years now, and have a great time with that.... perhaps that really is the way to go with this, at least live anyway..
I have also been thinking about a guitar controller tuned to violin tuning, as my keyboard skills are none existent

Yeah, the scene does seem a tad saturated now. You're right, it is difficult to keep up with thing. The scene in Europe was actually quite large, there were the groups who stood out from the mediocrity etc, but heck some of those parties were pretty damn big. Not sure what it was like across the pond, I don't remember a lot going on.
Thanks, glad you like it. General response from those who have heard it has been really positive

sooo, how are you going about it. I'm not writing the tracks in Ableton, in fact I've never used it so I'm learning at atm.
Are you cutting in to clips and then triggering? I want to make sure there's a visual performance more than me bopping my head in time to the music

Re: How did you learn music? (58 replies, posted in General Discussion)
I started off learning the violin when I was 6. Then when I got my C64 when I was about 10 (or 11) I fell in love with the sound and got a program called Electrosound which I used to write basic tunes, and it went on from there to Trackers on the Amiga, to MIDI on the Atari etc. etc. then round robin back to chip...
For me, I've just had music in my life from an early age...

Is anyone using a DAW such as Ableton for live performance rather than using original hardware?
I'd be interested to know people's thoughts on this.
