Bleo also contributed a nice drum kit from the ST-01 samples, Ill add it for the final build.

Very interesting info. That's very strange that the chip acts like this, because it seems to be a hardware overcomplication without a reason. Typical square implementation would not have such quirks. So, it seems the VIC chip is a good candidate to decapping.

LFSR has less states than 'long' mode of the NES, but more than 'short'. I.e. NES long sequence has 32767 bits, short has 93 bits (so it is almost tone), and VIC has 8191 bits.

The table in vice is wrong, the pattern is 65535 bits long, I included the right pattern in chipsounds

The iphone simulator in the SDK is, as it implies a "simulator" not an emulator, it runs x86 code under the iPhone SDK, not emulated armv6/armv7 binaries.

Dont want to be the nerd spitting the obvious, but are you sure your SID's analog inputs are not blown?

Even though a digital joystick might work in a 9pin connector doesnt mean the analog part works.
CIA1 controls the Mouse buttons, but the analog X/Y (paddle/mouse) is sent to to the SID! (POTX/POTY)

Hi

Unless you have a DSD hardware stream replayer, any conversion you do will involve loss anyway. (2.8224 MHz (1 bit times 64 times 44.1 kHz).)

Imho, the DSD benefits are clearly marketting hype with regards to 24/96

I left it in this way cos Crazy Comets plays ok.

Looking at my code, it seems ive translated that bit of the 6502 wrong and I've still not completely figured it out... I probably need to single step it in VICE or something like that.

I've done a SID register -> MIDI converter for chipsounds, in which i just hacked VICE to spew out the register writes with exact timing (http://ploguechipsounds.blogspot.com/20 … m-all.html) Then i import it in my app and convert.

so please believe me if i say i understand the situation smile
Its really hard to make a converter that works for each possible case with a fixed set of rules.
Its easy to lose some data along the way. Rob's stuff is intricate.

Hum

Is it me or the translation is wrong. listen to commando for the most obvious out of place spikes.
Interresting development nonetheless. I guess it depends on the SID playing core used as well.

Dodge 'Em (two players, single sucks)
Empire Strikes Back (repetitive but fun while you arent bored)
Adventure (a real classic)

theoretically it's possible to make a 6-channel c64 player by using this (obviously 3 channels would be lower quality but still)

Someone should code a wavechannel/softsynth on $D418,
wonder why it didnt happen before. 15Khz wavetables probably doable with clever 6510/irq coding

The MIDI interface is probably a home made version of this:

Also add Thriuphm of the Nerds (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triumph_of_the_Nerds) , and "The Machine that Changed the World" (http://waxy.org/2008/06/the_machine_tha … the_world/) to my list of favorite stuff to watch over and over.

Just posted a video preview of the 1.5 update:

This gives a glimpse of the new DMG wave channel phase tricks we added.

Wendy actually hired an engineer to allow her to make her own sounds via some arcade board sound chip for the film!

The only mention of that that i can find is on the Wendy Carlos Keyboard interview for Tron. Any other link of interrest?

I watched the movie again yesterday with new ears. Lots of chip bits everywhere, and even samples from the arcade of pacman.
