I don't get it.

Is this a subtle way to bash fakebit? Is it defending fakebit? Is fakebit v purist chipmusic even a thing anymore? (fun fact: it's about as much of a thing as brostep vs. chillstep)

you make good points. i make stoned points that i probably contradict an hour later. i will leave my final say as my first. For what it is the song aint terrible. im sorry for my rant. i am old now. and i sold out to making hipster music thesedays anyway so i should really shut the fuck up before i get called out on that.

fuk dat. I'm not gonna call someone out on the music they make. that's 8bc-kind low

I bought it for Android a while back but I can't download it again for some stupid reason sad

But dude seriously -trap music has been about LOOOONG before 2012.

preaching to the choir.
by trap, i'm pretty much talking about the "nu-wave trap" stuff that came around after flosstradamus did their Original Don rmx. Stuff that you hear belted out constantly at clubs now. of course 808s and brass and insane snare rolls have been around prior to 2012.

even if it was possible to export LSDj songs into a gameboy-playable file format, it wouldn't be good for a demo, as it hogs a fair chunk of the gameboy's memory.

There's still producers out there making the classic stuff. So what?

This is such a good release. As well as a fair few brosteppy tunes (Funtcase's 'The Jungle' remix and Flux's 'Meathead' are absolutely killer, though), there's a metric cuntload of classic tunes from a huge slew of the "original dubstep producers". Goth Trad, Skream, Mala, Lee Perry, 16BIT, Icicle, Cyrus, Jakes, Truth, Phaeleh, and even Horsepower Productions.

A lot of GetDarker's yearly compilations are full of great tunes, this is just my favourite at the moment.

So breakphase, if that's not enough to reinstate your faith in the fact that "wubstep is all there is", then I don't know what is.

"...the complete opposite of what dubstep was intended to be", Downstate types from his computer, the complete opposite of what the Turing machine was intended to be, while he sees some people passing by his window, the complete opposite of what homo erectus was meant to be.

Dude, things evolve. Things change. Get with the times, fuck.

Some people like it, obviously. I personally love most "brostep" music (whatever that means (i know what it means, i just like to deny that it exists)). Some of the things these guys are doing with synthesisers is pretty killer. Have you really ever sat down and tried to hear what Skrilex does with those two-beat tearouts at the start of Scary Monsters? That's some insanely crazy FM synthesis shit going on right there.

Music evolves all the time. We went from complex over-embellished baroque-era compositions, to classical-era music, and further on a few centuries later to vinyl- and casette-era pop music. Then the radio age hit. Then came the internet and the dubstep wave. Trap music is just over a year old now.
Music has gone from acoustic orchestral arrangements to smaller acoustic bands (maybe with an electric instrument or two if the band had the money), to the electronic music age. Now we're getting tired of composing melodies and vocal lines and instead work on the synth sounds in themselves. We're always looking to do crazy new shit with music, and dubstep is the latest experiment (which seems to have gone awfully well).

But we're all gonna be grumpy old men and women when it comes to our old old ages and our kids listen to something we barely understand.

Woohoo! Hyped for all of these.

Don't make me pull out Crazy Bus

Absolutely none. There doesn't have to be. It has happened before, services get bought and suddenly close their doors, or it turns out they can no longer maintain their business and have to shut down on short notice, or suddenly decisions get made that aren't in line with how they used to be for which ever reason. I'd rather have control over my stuff.

And yeah I'm saying the same thing about any other service, too. It could even happen to something like cm.o or 8bc ... whoops smile

So because every single web service has the possibility of going sour, that means you should use none of them?

Sound logic, brah.

This thread actually inspired me to try and code a little shop on my own page that I can use instead of Bandcamp. I love Bandcamp but I prefer not to be dependant on a service that may change into something I hate or cease to exist eventually.

By this logic, the same could be said about every other website. What proof is there that Bandcamp is gonna turn evil? From the cool newsletters I keep receiving from then (one of the only email newsletters I'm happy and excited to receive), they just keep adding a bunch of cool and helpful new features that make it easier for the artist to get their tunes listened to.

I think it's shit to charge someone for downloads. They're are fucking copious scenarios where I've needed to download my music that I haven't had it on hand. Unlike someone, I don't carry my entire music collection with me. So, no, not every artist has it.

The points raised are valid. I'm not going to stop using Bandcamp because of it. It's just a flaw.

Get with the fuckin times, man. Buy an iPod or a dodgy $30 MP3 player. Chuck some MP3s on your phone. If you don't have a device big enough to carry it, upgrade.

Or get a USB drive. Or cloud storage.

It's not that difficult, really.

PayPal is not required.

In his defence, I think he was talking about the only method of collecting funds from the listener/purchaser.
That said though, I think that PayPal is one of the best ways for anyone who does eCommerce to collect money; widely supported by a bunch of services, quick, and sometimes reliable (I've had some problems with linking up bank<->PayPal in the past, but collecitng purchases has worked fine for me, and I'm sure hundreds of others.

Sounds like Eddy wither has a major hipster complex, or he's still living in the 80s.

Hella music, hella video, hella animations.

Hyped for the record, too! There's gonna be a vinyl release, right?

Right?
