Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I am missing my frontal lobe.

meh, Installing CFW on a slim (as long as it's actually hackable) is quite possibly one of the easiest things you'll ever do. Put in a battery, push a few buttons, the end.

It was a big PITA doing it on a phat w/ no Pandora, though I'm not sure how much the batteries/magic sticks cost now. I
Had I known what those 2 hours of my life were going to be like, I would've gladly paid $20 to avoid the experience.
I'm glad I did it though. PSP homebrew is the shit.

i havent tried this out, but see what happens if you put G01 in the table and take off automate. i'm not exactly sure how the G command works in tables but i'm pretty sure G00 (default) sets the table steps to ticks and G01 changes the table steps to steps in the chain.

Pretty sure G is for Groove...?

It's never good for a scene when people get in heated arguments about purity tongue

Is the original available anywhere? I would love to compare and contrast.

Just got one and I'm really happy with it. Haven't tested the nanoloop functions because I don't have nanoloop.

Question, though - is it possible to use one of these w/ Low-Gain's DMG-07 Gameboy Sync Box mod? http://www.flickr.com/photos/lameboymus … 419956111/  I tried to use it with a GBA SP and a DMG and the lights wouldn't come on. Not a big deal if it doesn't work (w/ LSDJ as slave I can use both off of one of your Arduinoboys w/ no extra cables!), but if there's a workaround I'd appreciate if you could point me toward it.

And with the price of making chip music being close to nothing (how many of these people book out a recording studio, etc), I can't see why we should pay for it. Nobody/almost nobody is trying to make a living off chipmusic, why should they be have to be paid to do something they enjoy in their free time? - they should be doing it anyway.

As much as I love free music, I disagree with this argument. It seems to suggest that you should only get paid for stuff you don't enjoy doing, and frankly that's depressing. I still buy records, and I'm grateful that new records are still available for purchase. I'm happy to support the effort put forth by artists to create a quality piece of work.

I want something more then just niche community... people should be striving for more. striving to push themselves to something bigger, go beyond making a great 4 channel gameboy song.. let go of the BS limitations and do something more with it. it's about the music, not the hardware/software.

A lot of your post was kind of negative, but I really appreciated this sentiment, which is something I've been feeling lately. Why should we always constrain ourselves to the limitations of a chip? It can be fun, edifying, and challenging some/most of the time, but it gets tiring. And it's not like you're "cheating" by going outside that. Why not combine chips? Why not resample chips? Purity for its own sake is lame. I think if there's ever going to be a chip masterpiece recognized by the mainstream (by which I mean, Pitchfork), it's going to be very unlike pure solo gameboy.

That said, I'm not a huge fan of Anamanaguchi's music, and I still like nerdy toys/tools/sequencers.

What is the device installed in the DMG?

This all seems very cool, but honestly I don't understand how the MIDI ports are being used in the video, other than making the LEDs blink in time. I get the feeling I'm missing a bunch of essential backstory.

The title was pretty exciting. I'm a little disappointed that you weren't trying to hack it.

Won't the Pandora method at best, not work, and at worst, brick, a 3000?

I think it was a play on the YM chip series, and the fact that the current A.D. year is 2010.

After wasting pretty much all of the last few days' free time on this, I got AdlibTracker to output very poorly to the SBlive. Not as in, at a lower sampling rate, but like only a couple of notes were playing. It seems the emulation is somehow incompatible with AT2.

Being some kind of nerd masochist, I am going to spend even more time trying to get IT to work because I'm in love with the idea of having a DOS "DAW".
