I got Aphelion.

edit: this is mylifeispixels in case you don't know. i'm too lazy to make a new username.

I'm from the midwest and it actually inspires me a lot. Lots of my stuff is really mellow and sad-ish because when I make music I think "will this sound good driving in my car at 2AM down roads surrounded by corn fields?" It'd be swell if I could be part of this, I have no money to help the cause though sad

Yeah this isn't true, I checked all my tracks and they defaulted to "all rights reserved", but with the option to change it if you like.

For some reason mine defaults to non-commercial share alike, but all rights reserved is the default according to bandcamp. I iz special.

Everything on Bandcamp automatically has some form of CC license attached to it.

I actually just had my first real issue with bandcamp today because of this. there's no option to pick a default license. there isn't even an option to pick a license for a full album. you really have to go do it track by track and that is awful.

if i came up with descriptions for every release it'd just be another "zanzan" thread where i am not allowed to have opinions :B

that's why it'd be cool for the artists themselves to make their own little sentence. maybe you could put an asterisk or bold your favorites or something as a zan zan seal of approval. Everyone wins that way. Speaking for myself and probably most people here, I'd be more inclined to check out an album if there was a brief sentence describing method/genre/style/whatever as opposed to basically playing release roulette hoping something doesn't suck.

edit: or if you are willing to do an extra couple minutes of work on it, you could just label albums with no description simply like "lsdj unce stuff" or "Famitracker Brostep" or "C64 Metal with Accordions and Kazoos". Maybe a nice mod with some time to spare would be willing to help out doing that even.

I've been making music with my computer for about 3 years now, and I've got a basic understanding of mixing and mastering, but it's probably time for me to get a little more serious with it.

What I'm asking from you guys is to send me stems to mix/master, or mixed down songs for me to master. they can be brand new songs you want mixed by someone else, or old songs you are sending over just to help a bro out, it doesn't really matter to me.

I learn best from hands on work, and doing it with my own songs is kind of obnoxious, also most people recommend having someone else mix/master anyway, so this sounds like a good way to learn for me. I can't promise they'll be super good right away, but if I get super good at it in time, I will mix/master for anyone who helps me out now for free anytime they need it.

Post links to download in this thread, or pm me if you are more comfortable with that. thank you to anyone who responds.

I've found it nothing but troubling - from the inability to arrange albums other than 'by release date'

go to the "edit profile" menu and scroll down to discography. there is a "custom order" feature for your releases. I'm pretty sure this is a fairly new feature, or I just never noticed til like 3 days ago when I started prepping for an album.

As for bandcamp itself, I have no issue with it whatsoever. I can stream my albums and people can easily download it from there. I post mediafire links of each album in the notes because I've found a good majority of people would opt for that instead, and it keeps my free download counters down. It's basically the "lesser of 4 evils" if you wanna put it in a boat with itunes, beatport, and amazon. If you guys have issues, buy a domain and host your albums and put a buy button or whatever. that's realistically the best option since no one would be taking a cut (unless you wanna count server bills). you can even have your albums streaming on bandcamp but not allow downloads and link to your site where people could buy your music. there are a lot of options here.

It'd be cool if you added like a one sentence description about each release underneath the album/artist. It would probably get people clicking more albums once the list fills out more, instead of just overlooking the whole thing. Artists could make their own sentence description when posting their albums in this thread so you don't have to do it.

EXAMPLE:
CHIPNAME "CHIPALBUM"
Generic sentence about genre or method.

basically i've learned that the only way to let people down is to let them know what you want to do ahead of time.

this only applies to "big" names. I can announce 50 albums tomorrow and no one would notice if I never released them, nor would they notice I even announced 50 albums. I know, because I announce albums every week for fun. Unless we include letting down yourself, then I already do that on a daily basis.

I got a full length in January, and hopefully I'll be inspired enough to do an EP every month. I'm also gonna remix Katy Perry's teenage dream album in full because fuck you all, she's gonna love it and let me touch her boobies and then chip will be mainstream and you will all cry and damn my name. that's the dream.

I dig it, it would be cooler with heavier chugs though. What are you using to produce?
