Painting the inside out of a clear case gives an interesting effect. Wiggy from RCG (from the link BoFoSho posted) paints aftermarket Glacier GBA shells in various translucent colours and it looks amazing. Too bad he's currently busy with repros, his console mods are fun!

And btw, you can also do this to GBC shells like I did some time ago:

Kitsch, wouldn't it be better if you sourced brand new GBA SP LCDs frontlights? I know a man who knows a man... Hehehe.

Hello world,
So I woke up one morning and decided that life is short and that the only thing that matters is love; so I'm selling all my Game Boy related stuff to pay for a flight to Russia, where my girlfriend lives. I'm trading material goods for an experience that I'll still remember when I'm older.
I have the following for sale. I'm still figuring out the prices and where will these sell better: eBay UK for the AGS-101 stuff, maybe? BigCartel with fixed prices for the rest? These must go within a month or less so the prices will be competitive.

Updated list (some stuff was sold):

Consoles:
GBA SP AGS-101 Tribal (box, charger, papers) - 60€ [sold]
GBA SP AGS-101 White (case) - 55€ [sold]
Game Boy DMG-01 White (Chinese) - 50€
Game Boy DMG-01 Yellow (box, papers, Tetris) - 45€
Game Boy Color Custom Balbasaur (with Pokémon Gold case) - 25€

Games:
Castlevania GBA (box and papers) - 20€
KuruKuru Kururin GBA (new and sealed) - 15€
Sword of Mana GBA (new and sealed) - 25€
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (new and sealed) - 15€
Wario Land (box, papers) - 20€
Wario Land II (box, papers) - 20€
Wario Land 4 (box, papers) - 18€

Shipping will be recorded and will depend on the weight of the parcel. I ship from Spain.

I looked at Kitsch's frontlight pic closer and thought that the contrast pot might not be all the way up on that GBC. It's located under the batteries compartment and is usually hidden by a sticker of the same colour as the shell. Adjusting it might make the screen sharper and easier to read.

Kitsch, in the tutorial the solder points seem to be the same as for the SP frontlight. Aren't those only 3V and unreliable? I remember they made the backlight flicker with the sound on a GBP (they share smiliar PCB elements with the GBC). Why not use the stable 5V from the cartridge connector? Just wondering. Thanks.

You can buy clear cases on eBay and Taobao but they're more expensive than normal colours. My suggestion for darker colour dyes is buying a translucent purple GBC case, they're like half of what is asked for true transparent shells.

About the frontlight; it looks like a normal backlight without the white diffusion layer. Like the ones that are sold on Aliexpress using Bibin's pictures.
The one on the SP had little horizontal lines that helped fill the screen with light. This made the screen clear and visible when the light is off.

I'll wait a little longer for something like the SP frontlight...

I'd support this if it had real 32Mbit for bigger games. Some DIY cart projects I've seen don't take this into account because they're made for chiptune musicians.

And now... Let's find this baby a frontlight!

Hey everyone,
I've been planning to do this for some time; I want to do my own version of the Backwood Scotty board.
For anyone not familiar with the concept, it's function is to convert an original GBC game into a rewritable cartridge. It'll still require a flasher.

The original pinouts and wiring is taken from here: http://reinerziegler.de/readplus.htm#32MBit home
Ziegler's original project needs lots of wiring, this board here only requires 4.

The board was shown on 8bc somewhere in 2009 and it looked like this:

What do you think?

Hurray! I found two European brands that sell transparent low-pressure spray paint. One is Montana Gold (black and white colours only) and the other's called Mtn Colors 94 Espectro (several colours including red, which I shall have in my hands soon).

Here's the effect on a transparent purple Chinese shell:

Your site is what I've been planning to do for a few months now. Only that I'm based in Spain and I'd be offering less DIY parts and more refurbished consoles.

I remember selling a modded Pocket and the buyer blamed me that he had wasted too many batteries on it. Turned out he had the older version of the EMS cart. I even contacted ASM to ask if it was an issue with the LEDx3 panel. Fun times.

Can this get a little bump? I also have a new "Game Theory Admiral" I'd swap for something else cause I don't know how much they cost.

Dark grey button SP sold on eBay.

Micro and everything else is still available.

I believe European eBay users had reserve removed a long time ago. It's "Buy it Now" or higher starting price.

I know it's been a while but does anyone know an European brand of clear spray paint? Something from Montana preferably, not sure which product to choose. I did paint an aftermarket shell yellow once but it's solid and doesn't look as good as, say, OP's project. Thanks!
