The non-SP Advance is fitted with a backlit screen from a AGS-101 SP using an adapter. This is well documented on GBATemp and exploited surprisingly well by Rose Colored Gaming. Kitsch is soon to be carrying these screens and adapters. I hate my life. Bye.

I shouldn't have started with "I don't like chiptune". Instead, I'd have been better if I said something like "Anyone else around here more into mods than chiptune?".

To answer that last question: I'm into portables mostly and currently experimenting with mods and paint jobs. I currently collect but don't play as much as I used to. Yeah, that's probably stupid; owning the hardware just to pile up or mess around but not actually play anything on it.

I really hope that this doesn't turn into a misunderstanding where people see me as a troll who hates chipmusic and is only here to annoy.

By the way, is Radix considered chiptune?

I'm not trolling and I don't 'hate' chiptune. I just don't enjoy listening to it.
Most important hardware developments have happened on these forums or by people closely related to chiptune.
Do Kitsch, ASM or Thursday Customs have threads in other important forums? Maybe a forum with a custom Game Boys thread with more than 50 pages? I'd love to see that.
When I open Benheck's handheld forum all I see is a bunch of "Game Boy inside a frying pan mod" threads that lead nowhere.

I'm sorry if my presence here bothers anyone, it was not my intention at all.

I don't like chiptune. I don't hate it but I don't enjoy listening to it. I'm only here for the Game Boy related hardware projects and mods. Is there anybody else in my situation?

OP's talking about putting a AGS-101 screen inside his light-less AGS-001. You can't, The motherboards are different between the two verisons so you can't just swap the LCD.

It's a "SY3000B"! Looks like the "KF2000" I sold to Kitsch some time ago but this one's translucent black insted of grey! The layout is exactly the same (power button, power jack and contrast at the top) but the decorative lines on the front are slightly different. Maybe they did them different on purpuse so the other Chinese clone manufacturers wouldn't sue them? Haha! I don't know, so let's have a look at the machine itself.

As you can see it's in average shape but I heard that these clones are very sought-after on eBay. What do you think?

GBB's can also be found on www.taobao.com but you must shop through a forwarding service which is quite expensive if you buy few things.

I believe there's a maximum amount you can earn without the need to declare it. In my country, Spain, it was around 3000€ per year. So if you're a hobbyist modder who does mods every now and then there's no need to worry.

I had trouble with previous NONFI models for their thickness (created pressure bubbles on my MGB) and the ones I got from the Kitsch/ASM collaboration (I think those were called the LEDx3 VB) are pretty good. My vote is for ASM's new product.

I bought five of the last 188-in-1 models back in May or so and was going to sell two of them to Kitsch and another forum member until they found out about TaoBao and the manufacturer, Gang Feng Industries, throught a YouTube user. The other units went on eBay.

Those were cool if you wanted to play Mario Land, Contra, Batte City, Tennis and some other battery-less DMG games but there's no difference in hardware whatsoever apart of the built-in ROM.

If you're going to play single player games on this thing Kitsch's unit is what you're looking for; he also carries more colours than the TaoBao distributor so...

Hey Drop, what did you use to flash this? I currently have a Smart Boy Cart Flasher but I recall reading that it didn't work for you. Thanks!

Since my AGB-001 didn't get much love here I'll try something else... The "Spray paint didn't work as intended and ended up splattering all over my Grey Boy" tongue

We've got a huge flea market here in Barcelona that opens four days a week where you have these prices:
10-15€ for a DMG, Pocket, Color, Advance or SP, from hard to look at to average condition
Some of the sellers have no idea what they're selling so I once got a Micro with no battery door or faceplate for 3€.

BUT, there's specialized shops that usually sell unboxed PILs for 40€, Advances for 25-35€ and other systems for 30 or more €.

That's why we the Spaniards often look on eBay UK and Germany. If you were to buy in bulk I'd suggest a forwarding service.

Starting price is 0.01 GBP with Free shipping for both items! 10 day duration.

I used to call this the Zelda Boy Advance but then again I forgot to add a LED-lit triforce on the front.
