as a listener, i do enjoy having a "most popular" sort of thing to get to some good music from names i recognize. it makes things quick and easy to find what's good and what's bad really fast and get to the cream of the crop when you don't have time to actually sift through every song.

as a producer without a major fanbase (and a name synonymous with a Houston hockey team), it drives me absolutely insane because i know that a "most popular" section can often work as a two-way boost: it brings the well-known higher up and the lesser known often lose potential audience from the measure.

in a nutshell, i could see how a rating system could come in handy to determine a good and a bad song, but often rating systems can be used to sing the praises of names instead of music (see YouTube's most viewed videos), so in that sense i think everyone would be better off shutting the fuck up about it, because both points are valid. wink

this

so it's been a few days and i've seen practically nothing done with your label or it's website (minus your releases-on-first-page adjustment). what's going on? already lost interest in your own label or something?

why would you WANT a zombie apocalypse aside from knowing you might get the chance to kill all the politicians

so what you're all saying is we're expecting a drugocalypse? i was actually expecting that the world as a whole would slowly, man-by-man, slip into insanity and start cannibalizing and going feral up in this bitch

let's be honest, if they're trying to eat your goddamned face off, at that point you can usually call them zombies.

i'm gonna have to say if shit goes down, i'll be making that coilgun and taking a DMG, a shitload of rechargeable AAs (to supply them both), a box of nails and a hacksaw, and go turn the piggly wiggly down the corner into a motherfucking fortress. (and still make chiptunes while i'm at it!)

and just when i put thought into building a coilgun...

yes

except i don't want people to fuck off i want them to listen to it and hopefully buy it because i can hardly pay for what i'm doing here and my gameboy's already on its last leg

What i'm missing are the releases. Yeah, i know i "could" click on releases to see them, put when i'm looking at a netlabel i want to open the site and see them, like in a sidebar (and you got some unused space), right away.
Isn't a Netlabel about the released Music? So use the space you have, but don't clutter it.

he's got a VERY strong point there - perhaps add a sidebar like 8bp does, i don't know.

personally i think the logo looks boss, though.

wazaaaaaaaap. just released this today, give it a look -

PM me if you're interested in having my releases under your label.

EDIT: i'd also be interested in the webshows if i'm not tied up on the date they happen. not like i can actually go out and play a live show with age and location restrictions, heh.

ohhh shit yeah it was probably key delay/repeat. cleared the RAM and it seems to work fine now. probably running out of batteries and corrupting the whole active RAM while working on a song is what did that

I know what you mean. I especially needed chords in my music. In my album I go chord crazy a lot. Not in a bad way, in a 'yay, look, emotive music now'. tongue

this, this, and exactly this. i can't make a trance song without some serious chordage

my song structures aren't the seriously bad part of it - in fact, most of the structure here was mine and mine alone. the only real 'tip' i took was the beat breakdown about 2/3rds into the song. i honestly think the reason everyone likes it is because i used stereotypical catchy trance stuff. the WAV bass is one of the most cliche trance staples one can use, and the lead was something i picked off of a youtube video and just changed all the keys up, and i did the rest alone from there.

upon doing a reinstall of LSDJ (i was busy running through Pokemon Red), I found I was completely unable to scroll anymore, through anything - i mean, in entirety, unable to scroll as a whole, you hold down any button and nothing happens. anyone know what might have happened? the buttons appear to be working fine - i can play a game perfectly, i just can't seem to scroll through anything.
