Pretty sick! I didn't like the video effect at all, and it could have been tighter, but I'm certainly digging this rendition of an awesome track.

Re: Short Documentary on the NZ chiptune community (18 replies, posted in General Discussion)
I can totally see where you guys are coming from regarding this documentary, you have to realise there really are only 4 active 'chip' artists in NZ (which has the same population as the city of Melbourne) the producers were hard pushed for interviewees.
I talked a lot, on camera, about the global chip scene especially solidarity with Australia but I guess it didn't make the 8minute cut. The producers wanted to create a piece that the average person could understand, hence no real material on the procedure and tools behind chipmusic, and the more personal questions.
Right now, for New Zealand Chiptune, we'll take whatever we can get in terms of media coverage.
Yeah that's totally fair. It's just unfortunate to see you guys shed in this light. Some coverage is better than none though!

Re: Popularity Contest (208 replies, posted in Bugs and Requests)
I calling people who dont like charts butthurt is pretty condescending. I don't a have problem per se with the content that is popular, I just really dislike the atmosphere that surrounds the whole operation.
Yeah you're absolutely right, that was a bad way to put it. The people who have a problem with the -content- on the charts are the ones I was referring too (but didn't properly state0.
The charts as a system did have a somewhat negative impact. Trolls like MoxoM creating billions of accounts and eliciting votes from friends etc.

Re: Popularity Contest (208 replies, posted in Bugs and Requests)
I think most people who complain about the charts are just butthurt because they never made it. Sure, lots of "generic" music may have made it that didn't suit your tastes, but they were all popular tracks for one reason or another. To say that unce is the only thing that graced the charts is untrue, and to complain that good music never made it is frankly bullshit. Sure, maybe your favourite artists weren't lucky enough to be recognised (and yes, luck has a lot to do with getting on the front page), but still, cTrix, Disasterpeace, Shnabubula, 10k, Electric Children, Kulor, FearofDark, Sievert, Pongball, fuck HEAPS of EXTREMELY TALENTED musicians made it to the charts. The only "uncey" artists on there were like, Early Smiletron, Fighter X and Electric Children, and their music is badass.
I'm always hesitant to comment on my position on the charts because i made it a couple of times too... and no, I don't think I "deserved" it. But seriously, to equate the community favourited music as bland hipster shit is downright fucking retarded and the fact that other talented musicians didn't make it means shit all. The fact is- there was a LOT of shit to wade through on the front page of 8bc, so to become popular a mix of luck and skill is required. Luck so that people listen to you, and skill so they actually enjoy your music.

Wow, this documentary is super negative. Seriously, it makes these artists seem like whiney incompetent kids. And why is an "ex-chip musician" interviewed". Yeah this genre that you haven't heard of is pretty cool and all but I quit because it was too limiting.

If you do that, you'll void your warranty... more on general principle than anything else; I hate blue LEDs and I can't understand why you'd go out of your way to add them to something.
