PM sent.

Yea me too. I'd split a room with someone.

I'd like to see the kind of file formats that would make people download and listen to my Bandcamp. Also .mp3.

Subjectivity.

1. A little over 2 years.
2. I've been writing music for almost 15 years, I just loved the sound of chipmusic though.
3. A Gameboy and LSDJ. I've used the DefleMask tracker to create stuff and am currently branching out using Renoise.
4. Anything I hear. I feel most inspired by punk, hardcore, and metal oddly enough considering I make electronica now.
5. I know the basics. I studied music theory in high school for a year but I wouldn't consider it "formal."
6. Depends on what they want to do. Most people like the aesthetic of using real hardware so I'd recommend using LSDJ. I run the LSDJguides YouTube channel so I'd point them.
7. I have performed for open mics.
7.a. 8static
7.b. The thrill of playing live. I'm kind of a shy guy but something happens on stage that I can't describe. It's like a drug you just want more.
7.c. Single Gameboy and an LSDJ cartridge so far I am starting to use 2 Gameboys currently.

I've always been curious about other people's setup as far as two Gameboys goes, what do you do with the additional Gameboy?

whatever makes sense at the time! no reason to delineate "one for chords, one for leads" stuff. whatever you think the track needs, make it happen with an extra few channels. maybe it's doubling up bass, maybe it's some little counterpoint line, maybe it's more arps than you think someone can handle!
furthermore, the best advice i can give to someone trying out 2xDMG: just because you HAVE eight channels has no bearing on whether or not you SHOULD use eight channels all the time. using two game boys doesn't necessarily mean maximizing sound as opposed to augmenting your original idea. a far wiser person than myself once told me, "never say in a paragraph what you can say in a sentence. never say in a sentence what you can say in a word." apply this to ANY kind of artistic endeavor.

and to OP: i have no idea what you mean by "scale down LSDJ and emulate more channels". use another game boy, get used to four channels, or pick up a program with as many channels as you want. simple as that!

Outside of experimenting I currently have a single track using two Gameboys and I'm only using a single Pulse channel on the second. Haha! But I see what you're saying. That's great advice to carry over into other tracks.

This is from 2011.
http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/video/ … n-america/

As far as Philly goes though it's less about which section of town or neighborhood you live in but rather what block you live on. If you walk through South Philly this is especially true, some blocks are new condo construction the next block is rundown row homes. West Philly gets pretty rough past 40th St., North Philly has always been bad especially near Temple. I live in Northeast Philly (Fishtown) and while it's rundown there's definitely not much as far as crime goes, at least not what I've witnessed. I lived in Center City and the day I moved out one of the apartments in my buildings got robbed, I have friends in Old City who had a guy try and rob them in the middle of the day, and I witnessed a guy try and stab a dude outside of a bar on South St. I guess Philly is just rough all over, though I never feel unsafe.

However, those 4 channels are PLENTY once you learn to unlock their potential.

THIS!
I don't think I would even know what to do with 2XLSDJ, my songs would muddy up ridiculously quick!

Had something here but I've opted out of criticism.

So... is this in 4 days or after Blipfest?

I'm a house painter. I played the last 8static with paint still on my arms and hands.

I'm pretty sure the rule is: "If 8bc is mentioned in any post or you just feel like it, proceed to rag on the the community even though most of the people who were there are here now."

I've never understood the hate, I still don't. 8bc was a'ight.

Taking away the melody I can see why and taking out the commands will make the notes sound shitty so I would have to come up with something new to make which isn't a big deal. I'm not trying to disagree with you maybe I should come up with something else

You can use the same notes just edit the instrument.
