Yeah 170 sounds about right, but no way is it only 17 songs in the game; There's three distinct songs used solely in the first night in Onett. If you mean alot of the songs are variations then yes I agree but still--digressions aside-- Guanxi will probably have less than 10 tracks. Not really the same workload I don't think.

But regardless, wait for someonesomewhere's word on it. I think I've strayed enough from the topic smile .

earthbound used 3 composers

Haha, That's true; It also has something like 200 songs wink .

Well, I'm speaking only for myself and not for someonesomewhere, but I think the agreed upon arrangement is just going to be a single composer, for a few reasons; First of all consistency of sound, multiple composers makes it less of a score for me and more of a playlist of tracks, unless everyone conforms to the specific palette envisioned for the game.  Second, it's a flash game and there's not going to be a huge amount of music anyway, so I don't even see the point of multiple composers.

I mean ultimately it's up to someonesomewhere, but I don't think multiple composers on a project like this is desirable or even necessary; We're pretty much agreed on this point I think.

Hey! Can I help you with this? PLEASE? big_smile

Do you mean music or some other task? If you mean music, I'd rather do it all myself, if only to keep the style and sound consistent. I think we're pretty much covered music-wise, but thanks for your interest smile .

If you mean something else, you'd have to ask someonesomewhere.

That's exactly what I was going for big_smile .

Awesome news! Great job Shiru, and thanks.

Awesome. Love the smooth animations and the rad Blitz Lunar score is icing on the cake. What I especially like is the attention to game design; The economical use of the punch ability for many different contexts in particular is very satisfying in this respect.

Only real downside for me is the bosses, it would be cool to have more variation in boss behavior rather than fighting multiple enemies in a cage match. It's fun the way it is, but adding this would really push it to the next level. It is a demo though, so this might already be on your agenda. Overall very fun and very impressive. I look forward to the full game.

Plus one without editor yet (it will be later implemented into Beepola2).

What's this about Beepola2?! And on a related note, are all of these eventually going to make their way to Beepola(2?) or is there some criteria for what engines are included? I'm not too good at XM tongue .

I liked this quite a bit, and I especially like the fact that you made the story segments separate tracks; Gives me the choice to just listen to the music. Great work on this.

Yes! An excellent collection of exceptional tunes. Can't say I care too much for the Text-to-speech segments, but luckily for me they're rare.

Trashbaby all the way.

If you don't like 1-bit music, I suppose thats fine, but that doesn't mean that they are devoid of art any more than bach's music for solo cello would be is you just didn't like the cello.

This is basically what it boils down to.

I've listened to it a few times, very relaxing stuff. FM really lends itself well to that floating, ambient quality. Too bad it's so short! I need a FuturNari LP smile !

Melkor, your argument makes no sense. You asked if there were good 1bit songs/compositions, and some were presented to you. Perhaps the compositions presented aren't up to your standards, but in theory a good 1bit piece should be every bit as attainable as a composition for any instrument. To blacklist a composition by the virtue of what instrument it was composed on/for seems heavy-handed and frivolous. What if you arranged an excellent piece for two cellos as a 1bit piece? Would the composition itself, distinct from the performance, suddenly and irrevocably be degraded?

You ask if they would be considered good if they were made on more advanced software but that is a side-stepping of the main argument; A good composition would still be just that even if it were only sheet music scrawled on a cave wall.
