Well, it's certainly a good idea. It all depends on the execution. Good luck!

I've listened to this many times over since release but haven't gotten a chance to say how much I enjoyed this. The flow of the tracks is great, starting and especially ending very climactically. You've done a masterful job.

How did I miss out on this?! Awesome stuff FuturNari, 'Devourer of Mushrooms' is an incredible highlight. Hope to see a new (hopefully longer smile) release from you soon.

Awesome mix of tunes, I'm especially digging the (few) mellow pieces. Thanks for sharing. smile

It came out pretty great, especially considering the time spent on it. The only weak link was "Whatever You Want", but that might just be me. Good job!

"Alfred Isn't Home Right Now" is my favorite track. I just wish some tracks were developed more, there's a lot of neat ideas that could be extended and evolved. Nice little release however smile

Kirby Super Star has some fantastic orchestral tracks:

Chrono Trigger also comes to mind as being fairly unique, it has quite a few jazzy numbers:

Most of my other favorites have already been mentioned. This thread is a great idea, the SNES gets glossed over most of the time.

Classical guitar for about 4 years, keyboard for about 2.

Sounds like it's progressing nicely, and it's great that it passed the heat benchmark; Handling the heat was what sounded like the biggest concern. Looking forward to footage/images!

On the composition side of the spectrum, work ethic is definitely important. I try to write something, even if it's just a fragment, every day. The most important thing you can do is to simply sit down and try to compose; I've written multiple hours worth of music, and in my experience it's only after the first hundred tracks or so that you really start liking what you hear. Composition is a skill, just like any other, and it requires dedication to refine and hone that skill.

In my opinion, writing chiptunes is just filtering your ideas into a specific palette; No different than composing for a string quartet or a brass ensemble in terms of approach. You keep in mind the instruments and the instruments' limitations and try to make them shine.

Good luck! smile

Duck Tales rocks. Great job on how fast this is progressing!

Oh well, two handed pacman > work

Heh, productivity will decline in the workspace for as long as this is up; Two handed Pacman really raises the stakes!

3 Steps to a Better Kung Fu

I tried to approach the subject matter from two distinct angles, and these are the results. Good luck to everyone!

Congrats, Fluidvolt!  Your "3 steps to a better kung-fu" track was selected!!  It sounds amazing against the picture and sound design - fits perfectly.  Could you PM me your e-mail address and I will work out the rest of details with you their?
Thanks

Anything by Richard Dawkins I'm a fan of, he's great at explaining things. Something to check out as well are Louis Theroux's documentaries, I find them very entertaining. Food, Inc. also stands out as a good one about the American food industry, and Between The Folds was a very interesting doc on pushing the boundaries of origami.

As far as where to watch documentaries, I agree with RushCoil on watching BBC, and PBS has some surprisingly good documentaries as well; They present a ton of different documentaries on a show called Independent Lens.

Haha, those ominous tetris blocks made me laugh. I wonder how they are going to keep this fresh for 90 minutes, though.

Probably some stock story about some misunderstood gamer who is ridiculed until his help is needed, and then needs to believe in himself to literally, win at life. Then everyone learns to understand one another and how we need to work together. Sounds like Hollywood anyway.

This is incredible. You really nailed the post-rock tone on the guitar parts! I'm not sure if you were going for it, but it instantly reminded me of DMST. What kind of guitar are you using? Anyway, this was an extremely solid EP, the chip and guitar mesh really well. The only improvement I could suggest is to maybe add a live drummer if possible to some future tracks, although that's optional I suppose; Sounds great the way it is now!
