here is what you do:

click "module" on the top of the screen > click "module properties" > select a different sound chip from the "expansion sound" setting. you will find that different sound chips offer different combinations/numbers of tracks.

enjoy!

hi!

so the first people that come to mind when ascii art comes up are guys like goto80 and acid terrorist- they seem to use c64 for pretty much everything. i'm not a c64 expert and so i hope someone who is knowledgeable about that kind of thing sees this and is able to respond. if you don't have a c64 tho i have heard of some of my friends using this program on their pcs: http://www.radsoft.pl/en/software/

whether it is any good or not.. not too sure. i just know people use it wink it seems capable of doing the things you want.

hope this helps some! liked your vid, btw.

tho not usually the style of chip i listen to, i think you've done a good job! there are a few unique instruments in there that make it a fun listen. a deal-breaker for me with lsdj tracks is whether or not they have fresh, interesting instruments.. i liked yours!

a couple criticisms, if i may- i noticed you kept the same i-iv-vi-v chord pattern through the whole song.. nothing wrong with that in itself, and it is your song after all, but i find that changing chord patterns at some point in the song is a much more effective way to keep the listener's attention, rather than having to constantly change instruments, etc., to keep it interesting. this is just my opinion so take it or leave it.

also sometimes the melody got drowned out by some loud arps.. i would have liked to hear more prominent melody, but again, just my opinion.

nice work for your 2nd lsdj track- and actually, nice work for an lsdj track in general. keep it up!

Dude Oamaru is the steampunk capital of NZ, not really a chip breeding ground. The tearooms there are amazing! TBH #chipNZ isn't huge, but the parties we throw are getting pretty popular!

yea, the steampunk exhibits are absolutely incredible.. i miss that about oamaru. i'm glad to hear chip is getting some good reception in nz!

oh, i mean i could see why they would want to.. i mean it's a harmless thread and i don't really care either way- nitro certainly wouldn't be a 'dick' for closing it tho. i'm just amazed that bit wish gets away with this crap.

oh btw buy me a wiiu.. it looks fun..

In New Zealand it's huge, the popularity of chipmusic here is second only to the roots fusion band known as six60.

^ fun to see an nzer! i lived in oamaru down south for three years. unfortunately not much/any chip music interest down there (at least what i came across). lots of good musicians in oamaru, just not chip musicians..

in homer alaska i have met only one guy who had been trying to make something like chip music with garage band- he was somewhat unaware of the fact that there was an entire community of serious chip musicians around the world.. he just liked retro games and wanted to make music in that style. i had the pleasure of introducing him to cm.o (don't think he's on here yet) and famitracker (he hadn't ever heard of a tracker). we'll see what happens smile

i'm moving to jerusalem in sept.. i'll be interested to see what i find there. as of yet, i have not been able to find any chip musician presence in that city, but who knows?

Where is nitro to be a dick and close this when you need him?

is this guy for real? i mean seriously? this is like the third time i have seen him bad mouth the mods. either there is some inside joke or cm.o has the most patient and forgiving mods i have ever come across..

wink

oh ok nvm then

oh ok nvm then

it is best to just find a few people you like and become friends with them- then learn from them.. on a site like cm.o there are so many individuals who are not invested in one another, so why should anyone give a crap?

i like cm.o because there are loads of useful tutorial threads by some talented guys, but those threads function more as articles than personal advice.

also, there are so many different styles of chip on here (which is fine) that i rarely get relevant feedback.. people always tell me to give my music a "harder beat", but they do not make the kind of music i am interested in making. and so, i have stopped putting music on here and instead just show my music to just a few people who are better than me and who i actually like and care about. it's a lot better and i have learned much more that way.

i heart cm.o- don't get me wrong. but i think people need to be careful about what they expect to receive from this site.. otherwise they might get disappointed.

@defPREMIUM - Same answer as I gave Saskrotch - I can post on a couple of forums and on my twitter feed, and maybe a few people will read this - Bandcamp could blog about it and thousands of people could discover the joy of giving away something that's cost them moolah.

oh- ha.. guess i missed that one.
