I've had no formal musical training/teaching, but it shouldn't be to hard for people to get this, especially with the black rows that make it obvious that it's piano keys. If it wasn't for them, I'd be dead confused about the "Di/Ra" atc bits though, and as someone who's only aware of the "wacky foreign set of note names from tousands of years ago" from the song in the sound of music (despite never having seen it) I think it might not be to easy for some.

have you guys every really looked at something? Liked looked really hard, and just thought, thought about who made it, where it came from, and how much it may have travelled, the life of the maker, and the amount of time and effort was put into it? No? Just me?

edit:

the defaults in Fami, milky and piggy are fine as well

I knew this thread would get so much shit, I didn't want to be the first person to post, so I ignored it when I saw it yesterday.

Nice to know the community is still doing whatever thing it thinks it's doing to benefit the itself.

The DMG looks tacky, and the price is way to high, I get charging for labour, but that's fucking absurd.

Hello!

I'm not super great at introductions, but I'm Xenothral. I'm pretty awful at making anything musically so far, I mostly just futz around in MilkyTracker and make stuff that sounds bad and then not save it, but I guess most everything starts with experimentation, right?

I don't have anything really neat to show you all, sadly, since most of my time is spent playing games rather than trying to make sweet music.

More than likely I'll be lurking around instead of actually engaging in conversation, but if I have any questions I'll ask them for sure.

you remind me of me. imo, you should always save what you make, even if you don't think it's that great, you could always use it for reference or some shit.

8-bit is Sega's fault.

In the 80s they weren't called 8-bit consoles or 8-bit computers, they were video game machines or home computers, respectively.

When Genesis/Megadrive was launched, Sega marketing put so much emphasis on the 16-bit CPU doing "what Nintendont" that from then on the question "How many bits is it?" was annoyingly asked to all sales people about every video game console thereafter even when the person asked or the person asking had no idea what that means. I really hope people don't ask that question about XBone and PS4.

well the 6gen era, gamecube, xbox and that shizz was sometimes called the 128bit era. That would make last gen the 256bit era, and the current one the 512bit era.

Obviously this is a bag of wank.

I would like to see someone do something like this though, it has been an idea that I've had for a while, but never acted on.

Do you mean DMG or fake + vocal or something else?

If you mean YMCK if Miku was singing, start with http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm22409251
or anything with this tag: http://www.nicovideo.jp/tag/chiptune%C3 … 3%E3%82%AF

I was thinking fami + vocals, so yeah, that top one is the kinda thing I was thinking of, although if was making it, it's be a little less pop-y.
I don't listen to that much vocaloid music other than the stuff in the games, however I do like this song. I'd listen to more electronic/glitchy stuff like this. I might have to try writing some lo-fi vocaloid stuff now.
