Don't often read graphic novels, but I recently enjoyed this:

I stumbled upon a flier with example pages for this the other day and it looks pretty interesting.

Talking about examples, Warren Ellis has a webcomic here and a rather entertianing blog here.

Two more european name drops:
I enjoyed Enki Bilal's Nikopol trilogy (got a so/so movie) and Régis Loisel's Peter Pan and Quest for the Time-bird, although if the latter two qualify as graphic novel is debatable.

Quite a few titles I haven't read yet in this thread, very neat smile

Oh, and just because I haven't seen it mentioned: If you want a warm and fuzzy flashback to the time you were a kid and dreamed about knights and castles, Hal Foster's Prince Vailant will send you there pronto. Foster made amazing artwork with a very classic story, it's hard to put down once you start. A publisher here started a reprint with the restored colour version. Having grown up with the black and white, I was a bit skeptical, but it's beautiful- a lot of detail was killed by removing the colour, and the restored version looks fantastic.

Bieber is the german word for beaver. He vaguely looks like one, too.

Hmm, looks like he's some one-man Take That kind of deal.

Who is Justin Bieber and why is he relevant?

For bargain awesomeness Bone the one volume edition is hard to beat.

Agreed, Bone is good fun.

Oh Moebius... The most beautiful drawings I've ever seen.
EDIT: Just saw that he designed TRON.

I love Moebius' art. It's fantastic how much depth he can cram into a 2x1 inch panel. He also did some design on The Fifth Element.

I'm in a condition of mental divergence. I find myself on the planet Ogo, part of an intellectual elite, preparing to subjugate the barbarian hordes on Pluto. But even though this is a totally convincing reality for me in every way, nevertheless Ogo is actually a construct of my psyche. I am mentally divergent, in that I am escaping certain unnamed realities that plague my life here. When I stop going there, I will be well.

Anything by Alan Moore. Watchmen, V for Vendetta, From Hell, League of Extraordniary Gentlemen, Lost Girls (if you don't mind porn). Note that the movies don't come close, especially LoEG totally raped the comic.

Other favourite authors/artists include Neil Gaiman (If you don't mind a touch of goth, Sandman is very, very worth it), Warren Ellis (Transmetropolitan rocks), Garth Ennis (Preacher/Hellblazer), Sam Keith (The MAXX) and Bill Willingham (Fables is a good read, but gets a bit weaker towards the end).

I'm usually not into superhero stuff, but the Frank Miller arcs, Arkham Asylum (stunning Dave McKean art) and The Killing Joke (Moore) are some good Batman books.

On the eastern side of things Akira has already been mentioned, I also enjoyed Eden (Endo Hiroki), Blade of the Immortal (Samura Hiroaki) and Nausicaä (Miyazaki Hayao).

And if you don't mind taking a peek at european stuff, keep an eye out for anything drawn by Moebius (aka Jean Giraud) or written by Alejandro Jodorowsky. The Incal series is very good.

Every time I see this thread now, an announcer voice in my head goes 'Recently, on chipmusic...' like in a bad TV show.

Fantastic, perfectly chosen effect combination. Sounds great on both the 808 and the guitar.

Very OT, but I know there are a few people here interested in selfmade gadgets and visual awesome:

The physics behind the effect are ridiculously simple, but it's looking absolutely fantastic.

My mind instantly combined it with little-scale's Triton. The combination would probably result in the most esoteric instrument ever.

Are you the video author? Don't take the thread title or initial goonery to heart, as established on the following pages we're all loving it. At the very least, you video has already inspired me to make a track and Enso to make that kick ass dolphin pic. Cheer up, all is well smile heart
