Did you try asking Oliver? I can't see no reason why he wouldn't send you one.

I did send him a PM.  Haven't gotten anything back just yet.  I'm sure if I can't get one through Nonfinite, I can get one through him.  I've got the receipts to prove I bought it.

Oliver may be a little slow getting back to you with a PM, i'm not sure how often he drops by here to check.

A direct email may work out better.

As far as the adapters and already-bought-2.5 people...  i can only speak for ourselves, but we were told that 2.5 customers would get them when they are available, he gave us the option of shipping directly from there or shipping to us for distribution (which makes more sense as i've got the addresses and info, and its more my responsibility i think).  but, thats the deal if it helps...

i would imagine that other distributors are doing the same, but i can't speak with any authority on this.  only about our own situation.  that would be my hunch at least.

sort of makes me feel like a shrink in a way, but a lot of people who can't get emails replied to end up writing to me to troubleshoot or other things (even try to return stuff to me they bought elsewhere and can't get emails sent back about repairs/returns, which is a bit messed up).  you are happy to email me if i can help, i don't mind in the least trying.  other than that, perhaps putting CAPS LOCK in the subject title or something attention grabbing may help.  i dunno...

different altogether

i bet its [email protected]

or [email protected]

[email protected] even

or their facebook, twitter, or other social networking means.

or, a 8bc mod/admin will read your post and look you up.  but there is no linkage in the workings of the staff here and there, your post here isn't gonna help...

they should have a way to contact them posted on the site somewhere.  that, and patience.

this may also help you sell some stuff more quickly wink

i used to talk to tony a little bit, i'll shoot him an email now and see if he's willing to share it again wink

edit -- emailed, i'll post here if i hear anything back...

the midibox stuff, imho, is a little thick for a beginner to undertake.  well...  you could build the thing and get it working, but there is a lot of stuff involved in the build which requires more than just a soldering gun.  and, its advanced enough you may not understand what it is you are doing, and why, because there is just so much to do in a project like that

-- of course you can get the mU pre-programmed and stuff like that and save on some of the work... --

circuit bending is a nice place to learn how to assemble and solder and things, but a bad place to learn theory (if you care about that bit).

(i was going to suggest one of the curious inventor 'Voice of Saturn" modules here, but it appears they are downsizing and have discontinued them hmm ...  although they are based on a classic design...  which reminds me...

google "atari punk console".  it uses a great IC to learn about wink

i honestly do think the midibox stuff is a little heavy for a beginning...  same with the x0x or another big device which requires tuning or programming of some sort...

if i had everything to do over again, i would have skipped circuit bending as a learning tool and learned solely on building modular synthesizers (which came after CB for me).  avoid building VCOs or things you need to tune at first, and there are tons of easy modular kits out there.  and, each one goes towards your modular system wink

there are plenty out there, i'd suggest eurorack format because its becoming the new standard it seems...

/just my 2 cents/

edit :  also, curiousinventor.com and sparkfun.com have some GREAT tutorials on beginning soldering (including surface mount work) and basic electronics theory.  should help...

i think the panel is in upside down.  you can see the printed part too clearly.  or else you peeled off the diffusion film.  but by the looks of it in the first set of pics you've got it in upside down.  (you can still see the LEDs somewhat upside down, but rightside up you shouldn't see the printed dots at all)

it is still a bit buggy.  there is a USB updater thats being worked out and once its done purchasers will be retroactively sent these devices (so i'm told).  at least thats the way it is for our stock, in all honesty i can't speak as to the arrangements elsewhere...

in short, i would assume their stock gets this update as well.  orders from nanoloop or from our shop will get these when they are available (according to the latest update to me from oliver re: this)

*if you got the cart from us* the minidisc should be inside the packaging.  open it all up and its sandwiched inside.  from others i can't speak about...

also you may want to try to restart the computer to make sure the system registry is up-to-date.

if the installation fails, to startover you'll need to manually delete the files you added to your computer, as well as go into "Devices and Printers" and uninstall the assigned driver the the EMS device (you'll have to have the cartridge plugged in to do this, obviously).  unassign/delete the driver, manually delete all the files from your computer, restart, and start over.

restart between all the major steps.  this helps a lot of people.

you should return it, or donate it for parts/science

likely, i'm just broke on another project right now.  but, its wrapping up shortly so things will clear up and its go time on those.  i'll get the MDs ordered before everything else, they've been sold out the longest...

your computer can do this.  through your DAW for example...

all you'd need would be a simple cheap MIDI/USB cable just to have the clock.

you can also get standalone clock generating boxes, but they can cost a bit (its a bit of overkill or your purpose).  (MOTU made a unit back in the day called the 'MIDI Timepiece' that has a bunch of outputs you can set clocks to.  but, you've got to manually control them now since the software is wayyyyyyy outdated (and the hardware hookups too), but they are old and outdated and like...  $10 on ebay.  i've got one of them for clock generation solely in fact...  (use my computer for that now though).

i would imagine that there is a MIDI program you can run that only generates a clock, so you wouldn't have to run your DAW to get this.  i don't know one though, but its such a simple function i'm sure something out there exists and for free more-than-likely.

you can also do this with MAX/MSP, and with a little searching you'll find a MIDI signal genrating app.  max/msp is some good stuff, and the runtime version is free.  and it isn't CPU intensive for something like this wink

that is, if you want to generate the clock from something else to sync all your other things to, rather than have one of your devices as the master as suggested above.

you may also want to just commit and get a MIDI in/out box.  I highly suggest the more modern MOTU products.

hope that helps some!
