Imo, it's not more difficult. It's like you said, veeeery difficult at first, and then slow improving. I 've been myself stuck in front on my screen for 8 hours in a row when I started Famitracker, because I started from scratch. But there are indeed very good tutorials, I remember that I watched the one from 8bitdanooct1 which is very well made for total beginners.
After that, you get your reward : there's a lot to mess around with trackers.

Omg, I've been loooking for some flash player for NSF with a code to put in the description of the track, spent an hour on that, then gave up. Haha thanks

Go to their online store to see the products. You'll have to buy LSDj separately (for a few $), and give them proof, and then they'll flash it for free, but it's very well explained on their site, take a look on it.

I'm making a playlist every month on a french webradio, called ViolenceRadio. This playlist is chiptune oriented (if it wasn't I wouldn't be posting this ahah), and is on air twice a week : THURSDAYS 11PM CET (5:00PM EST) & SUNDAYS 7:00PM CET (10:00AM EST).
I've already made my june playlist, but if you guys want to send me some of your tunes to be part of the next playlist, feel free to contact me via mp !
Also, if I put one of your tracks in the playlist and you don't want it to be there, please let me know, I'll remove it immediately.
