I don't prefer music that is solely based off of sound design though tbh. Great for dance parties;which are fun. Non confrontational and choice to get mindlessly physical to, but as a producer just not my thing. I love themes, and when people use different styles as just an element.
Most people( mainly non-musicians) just want something that sounds good so they can dance, which I totally get.
If I were to end up at a rave   I'd choose Gabber, Breakcore, because i like hyper active distorted garbage.  Acid hits home for me, crawly synth lines  with filter automation gives me a boner; and braindance which i feel derives from acid. Its like acid on acid

It's usually just someones job, and not a passion. The most accurate review I've ever gotten was on someones tumbler; NOT the local  newspaper.

you seem mad.

^started as an opinion, and turned into a rant, lol

I play about a show a month and can make anywhere from 30-100 bux a show including album sales. The $500 a year figure seems pretty consistent with those who are serious about playing shows and making music.

Its also a game of always keeping yourself available for shows. Never say no but always require at least a little from the door. If its a free/charity gig, most people don't mind covering gas if you're driving a distance.

Don't do it for the money. There isn't much.

If we actually made money do you think the forums would be less cynical?  This is fucking sad; and by sad I mean funny.

No. Fuck off.

baaahahaha, saw that coming.

needs more bree, less yiiiighhh, put some poop on that pickle!  That kick is not karate, slap your mom. It's in a book somewhere.

dude, make what YOU like! Learn and practice as much as you can to achieve the sound YOU want. There is no right way to do anything. Don't bend backwards for anyone! Just try to listen to your music for what it is, and release your ep when you think it is exactly what your going for....I found the best way to achieve good art takes a lot of brainstorming and ideas first, and then all that technicality bullshit second......Really, you could make tracks that sound like a garbage disposal , but if the artistic theme matches up correctly it will work. Just please don't evereverever make music to please the masses, but still set your standards high  of course....this is all just my opinion, you don't have to take my word for it.

I really try to keep my mom in the dark about it. She knows I call myself shitbird, so she really doesn't want to know to much anyways. However, moms is the first person I call when I have something to boast about.  My dad doesn't really get anything that isnt metal from the 70s'. The last thing he's ever heard me make was on a Yamaha DJX back in 2000, and he said " You should probably quit because you suck"  Really inspired me (no sarcasm).  I actually met my girlfriend through shitbird back in the myspace era. I think she is secretly waiting for me to give up so I will finally settle down. The people I live with are married and straight laced, but I  honestly think they like keep me around and hearing stories about my crazy musical adventures. My cat really hates the sound of the noise channel, and wishes I would stick to piano... that pretty much sums it up.
