ah, true. my mistake. seeing that video got me on a huoratron kick - nice way to procrastinate from studying.
how about:
Okay, so once I get the cartridge, is it worth paying a few bucks for the DIY Pro Sound Mod?
nope. it's not even necessary. and if you know how to solder, you can do it yourself in under 5 minutes if you have a triwing screwdriver.
My advice:
1.Get Cart, Write Music.
2.Worry about everything else later.
well, there's ones made specifically for the game boy that also have battery packs in-line. That is to say, you can use it plugged into the wall, or charge the pack and then detach the wall portion of the cable and leave the pack plugged into the DMG for extra power on the go. Those are relatively easy to find on eBay and will probably be cheaper than a power supply you'd find at say, radio shack.
That said, the sound does get a little noisier when plugged into the wall. So it's a tradeoff.
Always and forever.

NSFW.
If you want to make gameboy music, just get a flash cart and buy the lsdj rom, or buy a nanoloop cartridge. YOU ARE NOW DONE.
THIS.
seriously. THIS.
i'm interested. PMing you now.
thanks everyone so glad my first release has been so well recieved. i'll keep the tracks coming!
WOW actual musical theory discussion on a site about music? This makes me VERY happy.
For me, it's by ear, I'm the kind to just listen to my stuff on loop and find places where I can make changes, and when listening to a part bores me, I write a new part.
backup the save from your game boy camera onto a mega memory cart, then "restore" that from the mega memory to a usb cart. pull the save off the usb cart and you're set!
ANOTHER BUMP! let's say....
$90 for the mixer and $95 for the firebox. anyone interested?
TONIGHT!!!!!!!! BE THERE!!!!
so mush excitement. i liek it so mushh.
hey remember how last time this happened there was a cool surprise? there may be a different cool surprise this time around too.
Also WOW @ it's been a year.
WOW havent heard from these guys in a while. I'll have to check it out!
first off, go to littlesounddj.com and pay for the ROM. johan will give you a license and access to all versions past and present.
try it out for a bit in an emulator first. if you like it, then buy a cart. nonelectronics.com and kitsch-bent.com should both be great places to pick one up. let them know your lsdj license info when you buy it and they'll preflash the cart with whatever version you tell them to (might as well use the latest one)
at work we're locked into IE6.
that's right.
IE6.
Thank goodness for Firefox Portable- otherwise the internet would be a scary dangerous place at work.
