Another solution might be for the Ninstrument team to develop / or commission development of their own software for NES / GB for the project then they can do whatever they like with it.

I have some advice
- Listen to lots of different genres of music, try some blues or classical or funk, it might give your music a twist which helps it stand out.
- Back up regularly and keep at least one back up off site.
- Take at least one spare cart and gameboy to all your shows. One or both will fuck up eventually.
- Gig often and not just at chip shows.
- STAND UP STRAIGHT ON STAGE!!!, there are a couple of occasions when I like nothing more than a view of the top of someones head, when they are playing live isnt one of them.
- Move around on stage, you stay pretty much in one spot the whole time.
- Write a lot of song. Writing 50 songs in a year might be more helpful than only writing 5.
- Try chipmusic that isn't gameboy based. Simply using something other than a gameboy will help you stand out.
- Develop a thick skin, chip musicans are loveable but can get a bit vicious from time to time.
Good luck!
can you take the midines cart out without opening the system?
Heh, it was 22 years of living in the UK that put me off the UK, but the government using common sense to further the arts is a great ideas.
There's also an regular night in Manchester, called Megabyte - https://www.facebook.com/megabyteclub
It's not like trains from London to Liverpool/Manchester are really convenient and cheap though*, so enjoy your South UK circlejerk of moaning.
*spoilers - they are
Awesome, I will probably be in Manchester some time, I will check it out.
Jesus, yet another reason to add to the list of "why I dont want to live in the UK again".
- edit - Also wtf was the logic behind that? were middle class people in their mid 30s breaking into MFI, taking their kids acid and having nostalgia raves or something?

oh, hey
Sorry, by regular I meant smaller monthly ish.
You might be interested to learn that the UK has some pretty shocking licensing laws as far as live music goes. You could get busted for letting someone blow a kazoo in your pub.
Admittedly it was a really long time ago, probably 94 or 95 but my friends and I used to put on shows now and again, did a couple in pubs, a couple in galleries and a couple in nightclubs. We never had licensing problems that I remember. Fun times too! We had Amiga ravey stuff with Armored core on a giant projector, anime screenings and catered sushi at one show.
Where I grew up in Southampton or "the arse crack of england" as I like to call it, there was a healthy enough music scene to support like, a weekly goth music night and a weekly industrial music night. This was the early 90s but bearing in mind what a hub of electronic music london is, I remain surprised.
I don't doubt that. Did you yeah the EPIC (5 hours or so) sound track for Yu-No which was up on buckys site?
Are you using hoot?
This isn't intended as a criticism in any way at all but I'm still a little surprised a regularish event never stuck in the UK.
Did Stevens start an event?
So ONCE interpolates the frames, LOOP loops X frames from the end and PINGPONG actually does what you expect? That isnt baffling at all!
Thanks Danimal!
Okay, for the sake of maximum nerdery, I have hand-drawn a PWM and recorded it at the absolute slowest LSDJ will let me (40 bpm, Speed F).
I did similar PWM nerdery here http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/1779/ m-in-lsdj/
So I've been doing a bit of experimenting with the wave channel and it's pretty mysterious. I have a lot of ambitious things I want to try but the documentation I've found has been pretty scant, I've tried discussing it with Zef a little.
So essentially what I want to know is, what FRAMES are being called in loop or pingpong mode. Through some experimentation I've gotten it to go:
0-F-7 in loop mode. Now why would it jump from frame zero straight to frame F? And then from frame F to frame 7? And then where does it go? You would think it would just go 0-1-2-3.... but that is WAY too intuitive. So loop mode with a length of 3 would go: 0-F-7-0-F-7.... ???
and ping pong mode with a length of 3 would go 0-F-7-F-0-7....???Let's get this straight people. HALP?
Length / Repeat / Loop mode are the three factors.and I THINK it does like this
Length : How many frames does the wav channel play. Ie 7 play from frame 0 to frame 7 then the loop more dictates what happens next
Repeat : How many frames back from then end of the period defined by length to repeat (depends on the loop mode)
Loop mode : What does the wav channel do after playing the pre defined length
Case 1 : L = F / R = F / Loopmode = Loop
Play frame 0 to frame F, then repeat (0 to F)
Case 2 : L = F / R = 4 / Loopmode = Loop
Play frame 0 to frame F, then repeat (C to F)
Case 3: L = F / R = F / Loopmode = Pingpong
play frame 0 to frame F, then repeat (F to 0 -> 0 to F)
- Edit -
This appears NOT to be correct. Set L = 8 / Repeat = 0 Loop mode = "loop"
I would assume this means "play then loop frame 0" or "play then loop frame 8"
but edditing fram 0 or 8 while the lopp is playing does nothing. It appears to be looping frame F wtf?
