But something that I've found very interesting is that quite a few who were previously involved with the scene and "proper chiptune"* that have now "quit chiptune" or simply transitioned into other genres (mostly some form or another of EDM) still label themselves as "chiptune", do chip shows, etc.,

My top favorites are (ones that I plan to use for the rest of my life):

Roland Juno JX8P
Roland Juno 106
Roland Alpha Juno
Roland MT-32
Ensoniq SQ80
Yamaha YS200

They are all great in their own way! smile

I do still have a DX7 though,, which I never really delved into yet.. which I should.

Grew up with a piano and guitar in the house.
school bands, pep bands, all-state bands, jazz band yada yada  (clarinet grades 4-8, then guitar and drums in high school)
That was all just reading music though. But maybe midway through high school, I began writing my own music. Then had some quick lessons on drums.

I had music theory classes/composition in college, but I barely passed those.

Now I just make everything up!

you gotta build your own! Build it the way YOU want it!

no peeps dig the 80s analog jawn? ok!

Not really sure what a jawn is, but I'd snatch it up without question if you had the rack mount version. I don't suppose you were looking to sell any rack gear, were you?

Not at the moment no.. but I know someone who may be selling that rack version of this synth, the matrix 6. Ill ask him.

Oh right !! I forgot vintage synth had a forum....
