ITS AMAZING
In a kinda kitsch, useless way.
Nahh, only have like both Shenmue games and Crazy Taxi haha.
It's really my brother's, but I recently took it away from him, fixed it (kept resetting) and generally promised to treat it with the love it deserves.
So basically - BUY MORE GAMES.
Haha, my room is tiny and so it's always crammed with keyboards/games consoles. Playing through Shenmue right now
So I finally bothered uploading this video to YouTube.
Barely serious "review" of this bizarre accessory.
Playing my first gig
Getting interest from netlabels
Releasing an album and people I know honestly really liking it (though it was completely ignored on here/8bc..)
Finally going to a chip gig
My everlasting clearboy (first I replaced the shell, then the backlight, then the prosound, then the board itself hahah)
Having loads of soundtracks on my cart and being able to use a freakin gameboy like an iPod would be like a dream come true.
EDIT: Ok, so I went on Zophar's Domain, got some gbs files, and decided to try this out.
Worked like a bloody dream.
Literally instantly converts the file, and goes onto my cart fine. Small files, so I have like 8 roms and about 10 soundtracks too!
Playback is great, of course. I sort of wish the files would be named after the game, rather than "GBS PLAY 1.04U" and then go off the screen. The files themselves are named differently, but on the gameboy they show as that.
But yeah, I can now listen to some great soundtracks on my gameboy
Now someone release an album? haha
I didn't use my beatbox for a little while, and it totally stopped working apart from the LED that tells you it's recording. Suxxxxxxxx
I got an Akai SynthStation 25 for Christmas though, and it's brilliant. If you don't know, it's a keyboard controller for iPhone/iTouch. Akai have their own app (3 synths, drum machine, each synth has 3 oscillators and filters and LFOs and crazy shit, and of course you can sequence everything too), or you can use it with Nanostudio, or nLog synth. The software to let the iPod use the keyboard is freely available, so hopefully more and more apps will use it
I miss it when MySpace was cool.
As in, when it didn't try and copy Facebook, when it didn't try and have it's own "scene" (I left around the time Ollie Sykes was CONSTANTLY on the front page...) and didn't have shitloads of ads.
I miss old MySpace.
I do have a music one, but I never use it. I have a Facebook page to talk to people, and a Bandcamp to show people my music.
Atari ST has absolutely different and much simpler sound chip, which is also used in Amstrad CPC, MSX, ZX Spectrum, and some computers and consoles. Most of these computers has a lot of native trackers for it, there are tens of thousands of songs made for it.
There are no computers or other consoles that has exactly the same sound chip as Genesis. Probably it is actually custom OPN version made by Yamaha for Sega needs (they also made Genesis video chip, which was renumbered to Sega part number by some reason). There are some computers with other OPN chips, which are somewhat compatible (whole NEC PC-88 range has either YM2203 or YM2608), however they are all japanese, never were sold outside Japan, and I haven't ever heard about any musical software for japanese computers other than MML compilers. Never heard about any japanese tracker for any platform as well.
Ahh really? Suxxx. Megadrives sound so sexy.
Doesn't the Atari ST have the same soundchip (or a very close relative) anyway? With built in MIDI support and native trackers already.
Whaaa?! They were awesome
The Advantage are better than Minibosses
/harks back to my VGM-loving days.
I used to have all chains full of phrases - now I have 4 phrases a chain. Makes it easier to play back only certain parts an stuff.
Causes a bit of confusion when going back to older songs though and seeing like no chains, hahah.
Depends on how you prosounded it. One of my DMGs for example is prosounded pre-pot, and can't be turned down.
But yeaa
That MIDIfied monotron is sexy, so tempted to try and do that. Maybe use a nice breakout box for it rather than hardwired in. Would make using it as a synth much more practical.
I just kinda blog. I guess mostly game stuff, music and photos
