Sweet!
Alright, straight up: I hate "steampunk" shit with gears glued onto it - but otherwise this is really nice! Looks like you dyed a clear case a dark color and are letting the light shine through, which is a great and unique look, and the mismatched clear buttons are nice. This would have been great minus the gears, imo.
Did you paint over the text on the front by hand? Also curious why your prosound jack is on the front and not the bottom.
Green unit up above looks very nice, btw.
Panel mount pro sound?
Hope you hate it.
Sorry, it's really awesome.
Patrick is a scholar and a gentleman, and his music is awesome, and you should hang out with him and have him play at your shows, New York.
Just sayin'!
I have a soundcraft mixer, and it's complete shit
I'm curious about your experiences, as mine have been opposite.
Ive had many problems with the midsize ones but never with the small ones. Ive had a UB802 plugged in 24/7 for 6 years now, and a mx602 that has survived so many things (beer, being dropped etc).
Like night and day.
That's good to hear actually. I think a lot of the smaller stuff is based more closely on Mackie designs, that may have something to do with it. I know my Soundcraft has pretty much the same external form as some of Behringer's small format mixers.
Cart cases sold - sorry Vex!
PiL case, GBA/MGB case and Kirby game on hold!
Price drops on some stuff!
So weird - I used to use Behringer mixers all the time, and had multiple failures. Power supplies, master audio outs, input channels, all failed on me. Mostly with their midsize format mixers, but also with a smaller tabletop model.
The thing that really drove me nuts was an uneven frequency response, resulting in a hard, glassy and brittle sound and accentuated feedback issues with microphones.
Maybe their designs have changed in the last 5+ years, but I've just had a general policy of staying away since then.
Also, I've gotten tons of them at thrift stores - don't know what the thrift scene is like in your area - but look through the USB cables, they like to hide there because store employees don't know what they are.
I really wanna do this, but I can't promise anything in this timespan - I've got so much going on!
So hopefully! But all the best for this awesome idea for an awesome cause either way!
I'm assuming you're talking small format for onstage use? How tight of a budget?
Soundcraft makes boards not quite as cheap as the Behringer stuff, but close, and much better sounding.
Accept the offer, as it's a ridiculous one in your favor.
Unfortunately you can use this piggyback to split your output signal, but not to combine your input signals. It would theoretically work if you could keep the impedance ratings exactly the same all the time, which you can't, even if you prosounded the pocket.
In order to combine the signals you'll need some kind of mixer - ideally active but something passive could work.
nice work, keeping an eye on this for sure
Talk to Mr. Spastic and Crashfaster - they both use MIDInes live on a regular basis and may have much to offer you.
I have a known to work MIDInes I may consider selling if you'd like to PM me about it.
