Hey All,

My band Triforce have just released our first few tracks ever, would really love some feedback, i know its not entirely 8bit but your thoughts would be much appreciated!

Listen to it here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Triforce/127981037255524

Download it here: http://www.triplejunearthed.com/Triforce

Hope you enjoy!

@likeluke haha yeah definitely not the response i was expecting but im really happy everyone has chimed in (whether positive or negative) once again every has very valid points, my question is to you guys, if its not 8bit or dance, what genre could you pin this under? A ongoing problem i have had is trying to put this under a certain genre, ill be sure to email around the pre-release to anyone that wants it once its finished so i can get some more CC and hopefully show you guys that the other tracks are more 8bit more dance. This track was definitely not the best for the promo as it is quite dramatic, very different to our other songs and without doubt lacking both 8bit and dance

on the topic of seriousness, i think that people should approach music in whichever way they choose purely because of the subjective nature of music. people do it for a variety of different reasons in a variety of different ways, if one artist wants to take themselves alittle more seriously or another wants to push the comical side of things and have a bit more fun then good on them, provided people are making music i think the way in which they approach it should not matter, whether it be chip or another genre. sounds gay but, have fun and approach your music in whichever you can make this happen

@Saskrotch fair call man, very true

@Lazerbeat cant say i agree with that at all, just because im blending 8bit with new genre's and instrumentation means im trying to jump on the bandwagon? pre the release of this video Triforce was a solely 8bit band consisting of my self and one DMG (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4Fn8KhS7_U)

I just want to make sure people don't think im just some kid who has whacked a gameboy into my promo video so that i can claim an 8bit tag and seem 'part of the scene' ive been tracking for quite some time and have only recently progressed to larger scale production in Pro Tools and the added instrumentation, its early days for the band and once people hear the rest of the release it will hopefully validate the 8bit/dance genre which i have so dubbed my band, i do however release that it may have been misleading with certain inclusions in the video and its context. i have never claimed that triforce is 8bit, 8bit/dance would imply a fusion of the two genres although i realise the video may not have been reflective of this
hope people can get past this and just have a listen to the tunessss

I understand that it's your inspiration, but what I'm trying to say is that it would be much better to have something of yours playing throughout the whole video as it is a promo video for a music artist. Having music that isn't yours, no matter how recognizable, cheapens the experience, and makes it seem like your simply trying to piggyback on the success of another piece of music rather than paying homage to it.

If I hadn't been watching the video from a critiquing point of view, I personally would've shut it off after I recognized the music, and there are lots of people who would as well for a variety of reasons/assumptions from "augh, videogame cover band" to "ugh, nerd gimmicks." The sheer amount of time you spend just with dreamy shots with zelda music playing compared with the time that your music is playing is kind of absurd.

I'll take this on board with future video's, at the end of the day this comes down to personal opinion, the video has been well received among my peers who know nothing about the world of 8bit music and the video itself has been shared on facebook over 100 times so im just happy people are enjoying it. I can understand people on these forums having an issue with many elements and there have been valid points made, thanks for the feedback bro.

This has nothing to do with 8 bit at all (and where's the "dance"?). Maybe you should go to a forum about "mainstream music for people that know literally nothing" to ask for constructive criticism,. it would be more apropriate.

I don't know what else to say about your Zelda promo video. "Talk to Nintendo"? "Cute girl"?

kinda thought that because a large portion of our music is written with 8bit hardware that the music infact is to do with 8bit, correct me if im wrong?
it was a 2 minute preview, i honestly did not expect to be judged so harshly off a small preview, apologies to anyone if this video seems so out of context that it has infuriated you

people who know literally nothing (target audience)

Well that's just insulting!

Sorry bro didnt add in, literally nothing about 8bit*****

@abrasive can understand where you are coming from, because the genre we play is quite mainstream and thats the market we are aiming for, our editor thought the inclusion of the gameboy needed to be in there as it is prominent in our music (although you may have missed it and that the short 2 minutes of that song do not show off the band completely) so that people who know literally nothing about 8bit (target audience) can easily identify and understand that alot of the music was made on the gameboy. wasn't so keen on the idea as its not the best inclusion but the video was thrown together quickly and we didn't have time to fine tune

@celsius what 10k said, promo video giving people a preview of our music, people can connect straight away i think as they are in on the recording process, and can see exactly who is behind the music, its the first thing people will see so straight from the get go (hopefully) people will be able to know who we are, what we are about and what music we create

@pixis put it in as the band is inspired by zelda, its a incredibly nostalgic track that people can easily identify with, the band wouldn't exist without that game so i thought it might be cool, hopefully others won't be so effected by it and give the music a chance

@kitsch point taken, definetly should have put in info earlier, i would have hoped people would have stayed on board for the 2 minutes holding interest on the music itself due to the instrumentation, and track itself

was more keen on some cc on the music itself if anyone would be willing to just have a sole listen to the track, would be more then happy to send the full version if anyone was interested

If you have 2-3 minutes to spare out of your day watch this promotional video and let me know your thoughts!

Let me know what people think!

Thanks in advance

i usually write a song with no consideration for live mode, so chains full to the brim of phrases, then when i complete it and realize im going to have to do it live ive got to go back and split it up into smaller 4 bar loops etc suitable for live mode
