if you have a really specific problem in a song, then i think posting it for CC makes sense.

most of the time it just seems like people don't want to actually finish a song but still want people to tell them it's good.

true. I'll hold off on mediafire and only upload on there in the event that for some reason 200 people download it in a month (unlikely, but possible). I ain't tryin to pay for no download credits. Expect it this weekend unless some horrific occurrence prevents me from uploading.

isn't it like $5 for a thousand more downloads?

good to hear you guys are pushing out some more music, looking forward to it!

but while you're here, may i make a suggestion to tone down the heavy-handed exclamations, asterisks, shouting, tired memephrases, bluster and general noise?  i'm sorry but every time i read anything promoted by you, good lord, it's like i want to dive headfirst into a wall of nails.  i can't be the only one who feels this way.

it's a shame because the compilations are otherwise pretty good (it's shocking how many people were involved) and deserve more attention, but that potential is sabotaged by the immature presentation in my opinion.

i'm not saying to rid your language of the passion that you clearly have (which is great) but as a favour to the general public, try cutting down on the gimmicky brotalk at least a LITTLE bit, come on!

i love the enthusiasm and the comp has a ton of incredible songs from a lot of good friends. i love that you guys are doing cool stuff and doing it positively.

the emoticons / caps / ascii stuff is a marketing choice and it obviously works well to get certain people excited. if i'm being honest, it has the opposite effect on me.

that being said, i wouldn't say you should stop it necessarily. just understand the cost / benefit.

What Mixer should I get

4,000 pages come up when you google "what mixer should i get". i don't mean this to sound shitty but you should try reading a few of those pages and then coming back here with a more specific question. for example, "based on what i've read, it seems like the behringer mx802a would be a great mixer for what i want to do. does anyone here have experience with that model or behringer mixers in general?"

if you're doing bandcamp, then why do you need to do mediafire at all? people can just download from bandcamp.

the synthboy+ is basically a very expensive arduinoboy. i think the kickstarter had some of them going for hundreds of dollars whereas i bought my arduinoboy for $40.

and there are so many webpages already describing how to use an arduinoboy though. google it, dude.

if you have a specific question or problem, then post it here and we'll definitely help, but we won't do the work for you.

kitsch, that looks rad. what's your connection to it?

also, can you PM me your email address? i lost the card you gave me at blip and i've got an event coming up you might be interested in.

That is an issue, And you are just, by bringing it up. Has anyone talked to trash80? I am aware they were communicating through the dev of the synthboy+.

And how does he feel about it? I mean everyone is saying it is sooo fuckeddd up, but idk what his opinion is.

I think if Trash80 told them to NOT use mGB then they wouldn't use it.

I said they are good people because they are. They do not just want to fuck people over/ or just make money off this project. They won't make money off this project as is. Josh and Chris are doing this to give back to the scene and because they are Diy'ers.

It's fun to have chiptune hardware to keep the music going. I am glad they are making it.

here are some quotes from trash80 in the NINSTRUMENT thread that preceded this.

Honestly I think this is sad... kind of a insult... Sorry but I think you are doing it wrong... *does not condone or admire*

As far as mGB and Arduinoboy are concerned the licensing allows distribution with commercial products as long as any modified source is released to the public.

When I make something for free I want others to have the same respect to the work I put into it. It was and will not be used for profit from my side, so I can not condone it.

of course I cannot condone it. How would you feel if you did a slew of research & development for free, for the community, to then have someone else turn around and use it for profit without permission?

If I've already started work for a client, is it too late to negotiate a contract? Right now I'm just working of off "we'll give you an unspecified amount of money up front when it's finished and an unspecified percentage of profits if it's successful."

my number one rule with anything i've ever written for money is this - never send the final product until the check has cleared.

years and years ago, i was engineering and mixing an album for a friend of a friend. sent him the final mixes before he'd paid me because i thought "well, he's a friend of a friend. of course i can trust him."

the guy DISAPPEARED. never returned any phone call or message. so much work down the toilet.
