I have a series of articles on more advanced techniques: http://www.noisechannel.org/category/lsdj-you

And like Saskrotch said, don't just use one channel for one thing.  You can put arps or echoes in between your pulse kicks, for instance.  To really fill a track out, find every bit of free space you can and fill it with something.

Kitsch is right.  I write a series of articles at noichan called "LSDJ & You."  http://www.noisechannel.org/category/lsdj-you

These articles are aimed at intermediate LSDJ users, though, and assume you know all the basics.

I really, really recommend starting out by reading the LSDJ manual http://www.littlesounddj.com/lsd/latest/documentation/

It's very informative and well-written.  Start there and then check out some beginner tutorials on YouTube.

Oh man!  Space Disko is seriously one of my all-time favorite NES tunes.  Kulor rules.

Finally got around to giving this a spin this morning.  Nice work!  I really dig the chill vibe in Wanderers especially.

I really liked this.

I have a daughter who turned two in July.  She's actually the reason I got back into chip after a four-year hiatus.  It's risky  playing mandolin or banjo when a baby is sleeping fitfully in the next room.  I needed a way to make music in the evening that was quiet, so I dusted off my Game Boy and haven't looked back.

I still wish i could make italo-disco, though

Yeah, I know that feel.

I *hope* you simply misspelled Madison Alabama Chip Fest.

Oh my, I really like this one.  Especially Xinyue Theme 1.  The bongos and accordion vibe just get me.

Same response someone else gave in the last thread, but a flash cart. Specifically so you can play Mother 3 and Boktai 3, in English. Boktai 1 and 2 were going to be my main recommendations otherwise. They're incredibly overlooked Kojima titles that need more love (kind of like Zone of the Enders). I'd say those two, mixed with some other games people have mentioned (Astro Boy, Advance Wars 2, Metroid and Vania) make up probably the best GBA games.

If you aren't willing to do a flash cart, then I still recommend both Mother 3 and Boktai 3 if you're up for using online translations, these games seriously should not be overlooked.

Yeah, this.  I think the EZ-Flash IV is the only one still readily available for the GBA, but I recently dumped the Mother 3 translation onto mine and it has worked like a charm so far.  Definitely worth your time.

what the fuck is happening to this place

Seriously?

This is a forum that promotes a community where people make music based on, with, inspired by, etc., old video game hardware.  And you're surprised/confused/chagrined when people ask for video game recommendations?

You should be happy OP put this thread in the Nintendo Handhelds section.

8bc is dead.  This scene is TINY.  People want to socialize and chat about shared interests as much as they want to share music.  I think it's reasonable to assume shared interests might include video games.  Sure, OP could have googled "best GBA games", but maybe OP wants the opinions of some like-minded souls on this site.  I don't understand why that is so upsetting to some people.

If you don't want to see these threads, maybe you should beg the mods to create a video game recommendation section and disconnect it from the home page so they don't have to briefly offend you.

You should skip collecting games and get an EZ flash IV cart.  You can download the roms and play them on your GBA with ease.

You should check out these games:
Drill Dozer
Astro Boy: Omega Factor
Ninja 5-0 (way cooler than the name implies)
Final Fantasy VI (Hey, you can play it again in your pocket!)
Golden Sun
Advance Wars/Advance Wars 2
Mario Golf (Deeper than you would imagine)

[edited to correct the name of the flash cart.]

the wav exporting *sounds* messy while it's going on, but the end result should sound fine.

I do a lot of writing on BGB and then dump the sav on a cart for recording and live play, and I usually don't have to tweak the sound much once I get it on the cart.  BGB is pretty darn close.  I've tried vba and it sounded a bit off to my ears.  That was a year or two ago though.

I can't comment on the Wii, but the best emulated sound I've come across if via the emulator BGB.  Sounds pretty accurate.  I'd say don't mess with the wii and just use a laptop running BGB.

Anywayz,
the artists really stepped up to make this release special and everyone brought their 'A' game. Another stellar hit out the park for this group.

Yeah, I feel the same.  Everyone did a top-notch job.

It's live and it is super epic.
