Ok, a "fakebit" compilation. Some of you probably think that is a really lame idea, and it probably is. But I'm putting it together anyway.

DAWs, VSTs, hardware synths, MIDI, samples, soundfonts, rack effects - some of you have got to be into that stuff! So, anything you could still call "chip" in the broadest definition goes, as long as it uses nothing "old-school". No LSDJ, no C64, etc.

I'll try to find some other people who will help me decide which tracks make it and which aren't good enough, hopefully the quality will be pretty high.

If you're interested, post here, if you think it's dumb, PM me and tell me I'm an idiot but don't post here. If you've got a track you would like to submit, send an mp3 or ogg file (quality doesn't matter, I'll ask everyone who gets chosen resubmit in high quality) to [email protected] tongue

People who showed some interest so far:

- The J Arthur Keenes Band
- 8-bit Weapon
- an-cat-max
- DS-10 Dominator
- MoxoM
- Sneedlehog
- DJ Hollow Life
- smiletron
- orangebit
- electrodreams
- shotgun breakdown
- 2PLAYER
- Zwickel
- MysticHero
- tacticalbread
- PlainFlavored
- FantomenK
- egr
- We The Sick
- fluidvolt
- locks
- Jonnyriddle

I already got tracks from:

- MoxoM
- The J. Arthur Keenes Band
- pandastar

Thanks! big_smile

edit: maybe this isn't quite what you are looking for.

If you both have audio interfaces with several in/outs, that'd be nice and easy. If you don't both have audio interfaces, get them! tongue

Since the majority of members of this site are members of 8bitcollective, I'm sure at least 90% are aware of it, and it plays/has played a pretty big part in the chip music 'scene', I really don't see why we shouldn't be able to discuss it on a website called chipmusic.org which supposedly is a place to talk about chip music and the related 'scene'. It's one thread, it's in "general discussion", and it's surely more relevant than this one, for example.

I bet you wouldn't be telling us to stop talking about it if it was micromusic.net that got hacked... grow up. tongue

As for nitro2k01's statement, it's good, I like it, and I hope you don't get sued. smile

It's the best one, doesn't cost any money to have whatever synth you want in it big_smile

Sadly the .wav export isn't fully functional yet... sad

Ninja tracker is quite similar to Goat tracker if you wanted to have something similar to it on the C64.

You could do that, or you could just look a bit harder and see if anyone else did it for you:

Hehe, but I asked you if you had Lagrange Point and you said no. big_smile

Ok, FDS I guess... can you honestly tell the difference between that and powerpak?

And how here have actually played or even heard a VRC7/FDS tune from hardware... what reasons have you got to prefer the real thing to an almost spot-on FPGA recreation (if you could even tell the difference, which I strongly doubt)? This is what I hate about this chip music fad...

Haha, are you serious, or making fun of me? sad

I'm not asking anyone to cater to my exact and specific tastes, just giving my opinion of the album. smile

Unfortunately I hate every track except one, but I can tell it's quality music, and all the artists seem quite talented (I know most of them are talented) so congratulations on that. smile
