yeah from what I've read I assume I probably wouldn't like it, as part of my sound is cramming as many different sounds into nanoloop's sequencer as possible (ie. using it like elektron plocks).. would probably be great for ambient music though

this is fkn sick

nice crunchy sound design

Litquid Sunshine is super lovely

I can't quite get the information I wanted from the manual.. is the sequencer entirely variable per step as per later versions, or is it fixed to each track having an "instrument"?

Also, how much pattern storage is there?

woah! I've always wanted to try the early versions.. I may have to order a third nl2 cart soon tongue

Thanks everyone! This ended up being even better than I expected. I'll put the word out for a new comp early next year; I'm thinking hybrid (ie. nanoloop + other devices). I also had an idea for something more along the lines of minimalist composition / "nanoloop ensemble" though so maybe we can give that a go big_smile

Ah! Great to read. I had wondered if there might be info on versions of NL folk had used for individual tracks.

Yeah, a few people included text files detailing the version of nanoloop used, but I decided against including it with the release because most of the submissions didn't include this information (my fault; I should have asked for this in the submission form).

I decided to just do a quick master, as suggested.. so it's done! Check the first post in the thread for details!

Yeah, sorry everyone, it's taken me much longer than expected. Life getting in the way etc.

I have a pretty solid track list so it's just a matter of mastering it, which, for a compilation of almost 6 hours, is pretty daunting!

In the meantime, if anyone has any compilation name or artwork suggestions, post them in this thread; for the first time ever I'm struggling to think of something!

2nd track is awesome

haha absolutely

I think I've got a track order sorted out, and haven't had to exclude anything (well, except for maybe atomsmasha's submission "the nanoloop song" which is 10 minutes of the default nanoloop2 beep—even still I might include it as a bonus track lol). I'm still waiting on one possible entry though so I'll hold off until then.

Yeah this is nearly 6 hours long, with a couple of submissions still to come. A few tracks don't really fit in with the rest of the compilation, but I'm tempted to keep them in anyway, just because the grand scale of it is impressive.

sweet! no problem, I probably won't get around to compiling everything until next weekend, but best to send as soon as possible big_smile

Yes! I *love* Eloy. They're a huge inspiration for my prog and space rock stuff. My favourite album of theirs would have to be either Planets or Colours, but Metromania and The Tides Return Forever are up there too.

It's supposed to be a toggle between chord and unison modes, but I think it's broken. I actually don't miss it as much as I initially thought.

Overall I'm really happy with 2.8.2. There are a few things that I'm still trying to get my head around, but the sound is the best it's been since 2.7.2 imo. I even almost have my goth snares back.

Also, the distortion at lower volumes is actually really good for what I'm doing. Last night I experimented with low sub tones on L and R beating against each other, distorting the mix and periodically obliterating the S and N channels; it's opening up really interesting new sound design possibilities that I never even thought about before big_smile

you probably could add a mono audio jack wired just to pin 31 (Vin) if you really wanted in addition to prosound jack, but you wouldn't need to, the typical prosound already includes NL mono audio. according to the schematic notes, maybe Vin hasn't been tested on SGB, but i am under the assumption that it works as intended

The benefit of the NL mono out mod is that there's almost no line noise. It really is a nice clean sound. Having said that though, and especially since I haven't added a resistor to mine so it's unusably hot (not sure which value resistor is appropriate!), the prosound out is usually good enough on a DMG.
