I don't really have any business here, but I want this thread to continue; so I challenge whoever is up for it to draw a landscape in CGA palette 1, high intensity.
Colours are:
Black (#000000)
Cyan (#55FFFF)
Magenta (#FF55FF)
White (#FFFFFF)
Dimensions are 320x200
Step forward ye warriors, and dither away!

Quick little thing I chopped up, because the thread looked lonely.

I see all these people saying tattoo's have to mean something, and they can't look retarded. However, I think a subtle video game tattoo, especially some nice pixel art, can mean a lot to a person. Video games aren't a childish thing, and if you feel really touched by them, you won't regret the tattoo when you're 60 or 80. Just because there are a lot of crappy video game tattoo's out there doesn't mean they're all bad. What makes a good guns n' roses tattoo better than a good minecraft dirt cube tattoo?

LTC's Magic Cloud was my personal favorite release of the year.

I liked:

Mokè Mokè
Rearranging Patterns
The Landscape has been Erased

I was shocked to see my release there! That's awesome!
I should be a more active member of the community so that I could have cool chip-related stuff of 2011 to share.

Ugh, nevermind, fixed it. Turns out there's a hidden tab in the control panel's sound devices settings that only appears when the line-in is connected. It was noise cancelling, but not from audacity.

Tried with both a DMG and GBC, works just fine on the speakers and headphones with both. I'm having trouble uploading the recording anywhere right now, I'll try again later.

So my only hope is to replace my sound card?

I couldn't find anything on this with a quick google search, but after a few seconds of each waveform Audacity starts silencing the audio, until I re-seed or lower the volume for a few seconds. Some of the higher frequencies still get through sometimes. I checked my recording settings and I found nothing on cancelling noise, Could you guys help me out?

I think in an era of tldr and the ability to simply stream a record, reviews aren't really relevant, i mean look at how many people hate on pitchfork? But if the right writer came along, who knows?

I think this is true to a degree, but at the same time, so many releases are put out with such poor descriptions I often can't tell if I even *want* to stream it.  Telling me that something might melt my face off or that something is diverse doesn't actually tell me anything about a release.  I mean, even the best chip netlabels are guilty of this.  If you go to Pause right now, you'll see:

"Giant Claw - Tunnel Mind.  If you liked Midnight Murder and Erasers Fantasy then this is right up your alley!"

Ok.  Cool.  What if I didn't even listen to those?

Maybe the chip scene doesn't even need full Pitchfork-length reviews.  One weekly article with a few sentences about several releases (actually describing the music) and commenting on the level of quality might be nice.

I agree. Something like this review, it won't kill you to read it, and you're actually helping draw someone's attention.

I'd love to do chipmusic reviews, I think I have the writing skills to pull it off. Should I start a blog?

I feel like there is a bassline that will sound good with this and I just can't find it. So I threw in some wav channel noise. Opinions/suggestions? Thanks in advanced.

This is my debut release. It's experimental chipmusic following a halloween/haunted house theme. I used all the software I could get my hands on because I don't know what I'm doing, but I'm learning.

Tracks:
1-Going Nowhere
2-Everything in the Ocean is Dead
3-Gravestone Troupe
4-Burned to the Retina
5-The Endless Curbstomp

You could say the last track is a bonus song, it's slightly out of place.

I love the protomen. My friend loves ifightdragons, he told me about this tour and I thought it was awesome. Now I see you're playing, and that makes it awesome. I'd fly out to see this. neutral

>It sucks how Crystal Castles keep growing and all the good articles about their plagiarism all disappeared. The wiki page uses vague terms and anything online just keeps them in a good light, keeping the ignorant new fans ignorant. There was a video on youtube using clips of the ripped off songs and the originals, comparing them and proving the theft, but it was taken down. "Copyright claim" It was fair use.

I just beat this today, cheating by rewinding. xD

It was great fun though, a few levels have multiple solutions, pushing for a "solve it in less flips" sort of challenge, plus beating levels quicker, it's gonna keep me playing for a while. Really good job.
