So this is coming up[!!!]. Despite the how closed sample importing will seem to be at launch, it looks sexy as hell, and since an sdk is being released, someone could easily come up with a simpler system to import samples.

One question, I do have about it though, before commiting to a pre-order: Will the midi in let me play this as a mono synth (repitching the sample) using a keyboard, or will the different keys just trigger different samples the same way the device's keyboard does?

The system's been hacked, comrades. I'm no programmer, but I'm working on getting a few copies of cubic ninja (the game that exposes the vulnerability and allows the exploit to run); and when/if I do get them I'll gladly donate one to any dev who wants to work on porting any music apps to the 3DS (LGPT? Nitro? Sunvox? Something new???).

Also I guess tweaking the NES emulator to be able to play nice with ntrq/pulsar would also be possible now, right?

The price isn't too friendly to me and right now I'm focusing more on big keyboards I can actually play instead of tiny portable stuff, so.

But the miiverse community is somewhat active, with people asking the right questions and showing off their patches.

Does it count as a necrobump if I come in here and...

(It'd be cool if more people submitted sounds and this came out)

I had a cheap pantech about two years back, I suppose it limited my options, software wise, but the physical keyboard made up for it.

I used the free version of John GBC, it had it's emulator quirks but worked well enough for me.

Am I too late for this?

I don't know if this is a thread about the technicalities of lsdj and how to track efficiently; or a thread about composition.

The best way I can describe it is that sometimes keypresses don't register until another keypress is sent, which itself doesn't register until another keypress is sent, and so on.

Hope your gig goes/went well.

Edit: Both keyboards do in fact work fine until I load a song and then go funny until a power cycle.

Yep, that's exactly what happens! I guess it's a minor issue to deal with, but restarting the gameboy means I have to fumble with the mixer volume or suffer the startup ping between songs, which can get awkward fast.

The gig went pretty well, though! Here's a video:

It's probably fakebit anyway.

But can it do the voices from moe moe kyunstep?

9/2, which always works best for me when not using the keyboard.

I'm having a strange problem with my lsdj keyboard. I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware/wiring problem because it only happens when I load a new song, and I can faithfully reproduce it.

The keyboard's inputs start "lagging", for lack of a better word. The first few button presses fail to register, but after, say, 3~8 presses, the previous inputs take effect at the same time that I press new ones.

Let's say I press "enter" and then start mashing on the note keys. One of the note keys will start the song, and then the notes played earlier will be heard when pressing new keys in such a way that every input is 3~8 key presses "behind". I can restart the gameboy and the keyboard will continue to work perfectly, if not immediately, then after switching modes away and back into keyboard sync, but never without a restart. I'm using the latest lsdj, which means it'd be a shame if I had to downgrade to get this to work because it would render my .savs incompatible.

I tried to explain it to the best of my ability, and was wondering if anybody has ever had a similar issue and could give me some suggestions. I kind of have a gig tomorrow, and getting this fixed would cut the resetting times out of my set, and save the audience having to hear the startup ping between songs.

Well, deadline's officially here. I'm going to work with what I have (A few of you guys dropped out but I think five solid tracks is good enough for a release); decide on a track order, normalize volume levels and finish up the art, which will take me a few days, maybe a week. You can still submit, even if you only JUST found out, but I won't promise your track will be included.

*******

Thank you all for participating, hope to see some of you promoting this comp once it releases!

Polish up those tracks, you've got one week left!

Aw man, with a capture card, this could make for some nice visuals.
